OhMyStinkinHeck! Did you know that Christmas in in about 65 days????

I think I might hyperventilate.

Seriously.

I haven’t even started thinking about what I am going to do for the kids. I have been so consumed with the wedding that it hasn’t even crossed my mind till now. We all have customized Christmas stockings that my Grandmother made years ago and I am going to have to find one for Matt that will sort of match, then I have to think about how to do things for the newlyweds. It is weird to think that I have a married child. How did your parents change Christmas traditions after you got married (if you are) or moved out?

Erin and Matt Nunley

Erin is married, Matt returned back to Fort Hood safely and we all survived! It was a good wedding if I do say so myself! And we are all thankful it is over. What a load of work!!

Have you ever seen those shows where they are doing a birthday cake delivery and all goes wrong. Well, Friday night that is the way I thought it was all going to go. I had this sense of disaster because it seemed like everyone was going in different directions and nothing was coming together as planned. But as we plowed along, everything finally stated falling into place. Then on Saturday morning I was at the church getting all the food ready and just couldn’t seem to get it together once again. It became really comical when my dear friend Christy showed up to help and I started telling her how to make sweet tea. Yep, THE Christy Jordan of SouthernPlate was taking instruction from me on what to do in the kitchen. She finally just shook her head and ran me off. When I came back to the reception hall everything was DONE! I could not have made it through the day without her or my friend Stacy. They just stepped in and took over and made it all happen. Then there is Uncle Jamie. He is Erin’s uncle, not mine…but we all call him Uncle Jamie. Another one I couldn’t have made it through the day without! I have the picture up on Facebook if you want to browse through. They are un-edited and even all the blurry one are there. I just didn’t have the energy to go through and choose the ones I thought were best so you get to see each and every one of them, if you aren’t on Facebook but want to see I will be doing several posts later about the whole event and will include some as we go.

I hope you all had as great of a weekend as we did!!

Kids sign

In 12 days I have a child getting married. What? Where the heck did time go? Better yet, how I am going to survive this? So far, I have but I am beginning to wonder if I will on a daily basis. We have had about 6 wedding dates (thanks to the military). We have had several different venues booked but had to change, thanks to all the different wedding dates. The wedding party has also changed about 6 times due to conflicts with the wedding date. Then there was a conflict with the time of the wedding and the reception. And on and on and on.

Insanity I tell ya!

I have become great at material handling. All kinds of materials. Yards upon yards upon yards of princess pink fabric. Rocks, rocks and more rocks all to be painted and lettered.  Pounds and more pounds of food and candy. Trip after trip to Hobby Lobby, Sam’s Club, etc. I could get a job as a material handler and win a Tetris competition just on my wedding stuff stacking skills. My house looks like it has exploded satin and lace. My Mom’s house is bulging with flowers and sparkly’s. My sister’s house has also been converted as a wedding staging space.

Insanity I tell ya!

But 12 days to go.

Then we get to see what comes up next.

So, to escape my insanity…what have you got going on?

Have you seen those commercials where the father is talking to this little girl in the driver’s seat of a car telling her all the things to be careful of and in reality the little girl is a young lady? I love those commercials. I feel like I am living in one at the moment. Caught up in a wind spinner that is pushing me through faster than I want to go.

Erin, my little girl, is getting married exactly one month from today. In one month I will have a son-in-law. In one month I will have a married child. How on earth did we get from here:

In such a short time. I know that most all parents wonder the same. But I am not most parents. I am me, this wasn’t supposed to happen to us. It was supposed to take years for my kids to grow up, not months. So, what happened to the years I was supposed to get? Time is a cheater. Cheater, Cheater pumpkin eater is what I say to you Mr. Time!
