Much of the south experienced devastating storms yesterday and last night. Normally I do not get too concerned over storm warning but yesterday I was downright scared. I had a bag packed and was ready to go if needed. Turns out we did go to a friends house who has a basement and luckily we are all ok with no damage other than some limbs. Many were not so lucky. My dear friend Beth and her family lost everything. Their house, their vehicle…everything but the clothes on their backs.

storm damage

This is what is left. A pile of rubble. It took all of 1 minute and everything was gone. Several of my other friends have had major damage, many are without power and there were even many lives lost. My heart goes out to everyone.

Today I have spent the day looking for a generator for my friend Mike, putting together some care packages for Beth and her family as well as some other folks that lost everything, and thanking God that none of us were hurt instead of menial things like looking for management jobs.

I have set up a fund for anyone that would like to donate to Beth, her 3 children and husband. Every dollar counts when you have absolutely nothing. I have already sent some money her way so that they can get a change of clothes and some food in their bellies. If you would like to donate you can do so by clicking here:

And it is my hope that you , your family and friends all survived ok!

Spring is here! The trees are blooming and the weather is a little warmer…but I think we are experiencing DogWood Winter. It has been been in the 80′s one week and then back to the 40′s. Add into that severe thunderstorms and tornado warnings and watches and you have a southern style spring that will keep you on your toes enough to make you want to check your term life insurance rates.

I think our Spring has Sprung a leak though. We are under watches to build an Ark. Normally we are begging for water. Drought conditions for 10 plus years helps with things like mowing your lawn. It doesn’t need to be done that often because it is all brown and crunchy. You learn to dry brush your teeth with only a quick rinse. Short showers where you only half shave your legs and are embarrassed to wear shorts because it looks like you are growing a forest.

Now we are gathering two by two and eyeballing the boat that sits across the street.

It is such a nasty day here. Raining. Thundering, Lightning.

We are all holed up having a really lazy day since the weather isn’t fit to get out in. It is really kinda a good thing, it gives me time to get caught up on a bunch of stuff that I have been needing to get done but have put off because I really don’t want to do any of it. All that stuff like the mounds of laundry that resemble Mount Rushmore. Dishes that have been accumulating since Noah parked the Ark. Yeah, I know..I just haven’t had enough hours in the day.

I also need to be looking for Erin some insurance. Probably not Blue Cross Blue Shield North Carolina since she will more than likely be living in South Carolina, but something. I also need to be checking into a National car insurance since we really have no clue where all she will be living over the course of her fiance’s military career.

I am just dying to post a picture of Erin’s Wedding dress. We picked it up yesterday but since my future Son-In-Law keeps up with us though here and Facebook I can’t and it is about to kill me to show you. She has also picked out her shoes…she is going to wear sparkly Converse. Now we have to find the perfect veil. And the 50 million other things on our list.

Now, I am going to make BBQ sauce. And watch it rain some more.

Happy Saturday!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Here it is rainy and gloomy outside. I have taken full advantage of the day to get some things done around the house and otherwise be lazy. Bric got the oil changed in my car and let me know that I am officially grounded until I get my brakes changed. Hey, I just drive the car…maintenance is not my job. So, I had hoped that my friend Earl could change the brake pads for me tomorrow but with this weather I am just not sure. And I HATE being grounded. I need poc carts and a horse, buggy, go-cart, moped, SOMETHING. Anything.

Anyway, on to the winner:

Congratulations go out to Nicole G!!
