rain

Whew howdy! Did we ever get some rain last night. It came a gully washer in the evening but the late night storm was plain ole scary!! Wind was whipping around like crazy the thunder was so loud it shook the whole house and the lightening was so close it was like you had turned on all the lights for just a second. Sounded like you had a bunch of orff instruments all playing at the same time the rain was so loud. I was beginning to wonder if we might wash away…but then I rolled over and let the sounds lull me to sleep…and I have to ask, why is it that we always sleep better when it is raining? Whether it be a change in the atmosphere, the sounds or a change in temperature it doesn’t really matter, I just know I love it. And never sleep better!

Do You sleep better when it rains?

Yes, very crazy…or something similar. I have forgotten most of what I learned in Spanish class and can never remember all the rules of speech. Regardless, I think I have lost my mind and probably need to order one of those custom lapel pins stating that fact…or I could just go another day and not brush my hair and there would be no question on the matter.

I know I have been a little scarce lately but hopefully that is going to change. I have LOTS of stuff to tell you about and share with you, including one of the most amazing things I have found yet!! It is now my all-time favorite products and I am s excited that I get to tell you about it so keep a look-out!

The In-Laws will be here in a little over a week, the wedding is in less than 3 months and I am finally getting all of the projects around the house finished, slowly but surely. I am just hoping beyond hope that we don’t have to change the wedding date once again.

In other news…it has been so hot that Satan called accusing us of stealing his furnace. I would be more than happy for him to take it back!

My girls

It doesn’t seem like this picture was taken that long ago.

It was taken in December.

We complained about the cold.

I am sooo, sooo sorry for that.

It was 105 on my porch today.

It is only May.

Help me now.

It is going to be a long hot summer I am afraid.

I would gladly take the cold back given the opportunity. The snow ball fights, the bundling up, the sprained ankles that require an ankle brace. All of it not to see another 105 degree day in May. I am just hoping that doesn’t mean even worse in July.

Mike

Today I was sent on a mission. I have been keeping up with several of my friends that were affected badly by the storms and while I was talking to my friend Mike he asked me to help him with something. Now, Mike is the guy who takes us rock climbing. And zip-lining. And caving. And all that other outdoors stuff we find ourselves getting into. He is a survivalist at heart. Most Friday’s you find him packing him and his family for a weekend camping trip. If anyone could survive all of this, it would be him.

So, when I talked to him and he asked me to see if I could find any store that had a generator I had to chuckle. The one guy I know that can make fire from only the things he finds in nature wants a generator. The other thing is this…he asked ME to find a generator. Ummm, is there a consumer buying guide? Because when I finally found the one store within a hundred miles and they started telling me all this stuff I had NO idea what I was hearing. I finally just said give me the price and hold it for Mike till he can get there.

I thought that the one thing that he asked if I could do for him was going to be impossible, but I did it after all. And, just for the record, if you or anyone you know is looking for a generator, don’t start at the big chain store, check the hometown hardware and smaller stores. Home Depot and Lowe’s both laughed at me when I call the stores in Dalton and let me know that they were out and all the stores within a 100 mile radius were out. I finally found one at Tractor Supply here in Hicktown, imagine that.
