This is one of the most requested treats that has made its way out of my kitchen. Everyone that has tasted them wants more and every year I get asked hundreds of times when I am making them again. For them to be so good yet so easy is almost sinful.

Oreo Balls

1 package Oreo cookies

1 package (8 oz) cream cheeese

Almond Bark

Oreo balls ingredients

Crush up your Oreo  cookies very fine. I use a food processor for this step but if you don’t have one you will need to put your cookies in a sealable bag and hammer the heck out of them.

You will then add your softened cream cheese to the crushed cookies. I use my hands to mush it all together until you have a dough. Once you have it mixed really well shape a spoonful into bite-sized balls.

While all of this is happening you want to have your almond bark melting in a double boiler or whatever you have. I don’t have a double boiler so I make my own by placing a glass bowl on top of a pan with some water in the bottom pan. I keep mine on about medium heat to keep the almond bark from scorching.

Then dip each ball into the melted almond bark until it is totally coated. I use a toothpick to dunk mine and pull them out. Once you have them all dipped and they have completely set you will want to store them in an air-tight container in the refrigerator.

Finished Oreo Balls

Mmmm, these don’t last long at all at my house so I have to make a TON! But one batch will make about 60-70 balls.

The egg on the left is a regular large size egg. The egg on the right is a mutant of an egg. It is HUGE.

One of those chickens out there is walking a little funny today I would say. I have had 2 of these eggs so far. One yesterday and one today. I was SHOCKED when I got the first one, and then…I got a second one. The gargantuous one…is a double yolk. I did crack one open just to see. We have had a few double yolked ones but never this size. Not sure what those gals are doing, but I sure hope they keep it up! I might would even buy them a piece of Samsonite luggage for that Las Vegas trip they have been talking about.

They did get a treat of apples and bread today. I would say one of those gals definitely deserves it.

Ahhh, tomorrow all the little ghosts and goblins will be out and about.  I always wanted to live in town…just so I could give out candy. We have never had trick-or-treaters. Ok, we have 4, and that is just because they are special, and drive all the way out to the boonies so I can see them…and so they can get a special bag of treats. I have had a hard time deciding what to put in those special bags this year. This is one thing I am making to go in them:

Caught in the updraft,
the little ghost went whoop.
It scared him so much
he left behind ghost poop!

It’s really very extraordinary
so I gathered some for you. . .
Cause it tastes quite scrumptious
added to hot chocolate brew!

And they will also receive a homemade hot chocolate mix and possibly a mug. Some chocolate of course. But other than that, I am out of ideas this year. Do you have any great ideas?
