What do you do late at night when you can’t sleep? Me, I watch TV. The TV here is rarely ever turned on during the day until Bric gets home from work, then he has a couple of  shows that he likes to watch each night. Me, I can’t sit down to watch TV much during normal people’s hours. But when I can’t sleep, you better believe that I am up watching late night TV. You can find out all about the different  DIRECTV packages and all the different products that will help you loose weight, fix your back, or make you the best chef ever.
Then there are the cable packages that will teach you how to be a millionaire in one short month. You can learn what it is like to be in jail, what the weather is like anywhere in the world and how to travel on a dime.
We have one of the Dish packages – I can catch up on Deadliest catch and learn about the history of the world. All in a few short hours of sleeplessness. It’s amazing what you can learn about while the rest of the world sleeps and slumbers.

Guest blogger Katy Elrich wrote this for me.

“There is a shooter in the hospital!”. Those are the words that echoed in my head after seeing all of the commercials for the season finale of Grey’s Anatomy on my Georgia satelite tv. I could not wait to watch the finale as every season the finale is better than the one before it. Through Izzy overcoming Cancer and George’s death, I could not believe that this finale could even possibly top the ones before it, well, it did.

Derrick had been shot by an angry husband whose wife had passed away in Seattle Grace Hospital. The man blamed Derrick for his wives death as well as blamed several others such as Meredith’s sister for pulling the plug for the life support system which she was on.

In the end of it all, Christina had to operate on Derreck to keep him alive all well the shooter held a gun to her head and threatened to kill her if she did not stop operating. They secretly pulled a wire on his vital monitor, which made it appear as though he was dead, which in turn made the shooter leave the room satisfied. Meredith however, did not know what they were doing and thought that Derrick had really died. This caused her to have a breakdown and a miscarry the baby that she was about to tell Derrick she was pregnant with, right before he was shot.

The chief of the hospital was able to talk the shooter down and convince him to kill himself, before the SWAT team could come in and haul him off to jail for the rest of his life.

Over the years there has been one show that I’ve found to occupy the number one spot in the t.v. section of my heart, and that show is Degrassi: The Next Generation. Now, before you go and judge me based on my choice, hear me out Degrassi is not your average teenage drama centered around partying, sex and lying to mom and dad. While those elements are included, it also has drama, romance, friendships and storylines that keep you craving for more.  Degrassi is actually the name of the school in which the characters attend. At Degrassi, anything is possible, and when I say anything, I do mean ANYTHING. Everything from secret pregnancies, adoptions and drug addictions, to underground parties, stabbings and love tri-angles, squares and pentagons goes down at this small town school. The students there face everyday teenage obstacles such as peer pressures, family issues, dealing with friends and dating. The difference is, you never know what to expect or what is going to happen.  I am hooked on this show because the drama is intense! It makes you laugh, cry and wish you were there all at the same time. Over the years I have gotten to get to know the characters and watch the actors who play them grow up before my eyes. Although I am not a teenager, the show approaches issues that people of all age encounter. Degrassi is something I only found on Directtv. If you want a show that is guaranteed to entertain, no matter how old you are, you definitely want to check your local listings for this one!

I have a love hate relationship with our DVR. I love being able to record shows and watch them later. I love being able to skip through all the commercials and turning an hour show into a 30 minute show. I love being able to rewind the show to hear what I missed because a kid was screaming “MOM” at the top of their lungs over some travesty that has taken place between siblings. I love that you can now move and take your Direct TV with you where ever you go. Because I am seriously thinking of moving to the southern most tip of Florida. It hasn’t been above freezing here in over a week. Seriously folks…I am usually not one to complain much about the weather, well except when it is 100 degrees with air so humid you can’t think straight. But all of this arctic air is driving me stir crazy. So, as I was catching up on the 500 shows that I have recorded and am WAY behind on I saw the commercial where you can pack up and move Direct TV in Florida or wherever else you want to move to. And it was such a tempting thought.Except I would hate having sand in my every nook and cranny 24/7.  And it is flat. And crowded.

Now, I feel guilty because I have like 500 TV shows recorded. Most of which I think that I really want to watch and then never find the time for. So I look at all these shows and feel guilty that I have given Nelsons a false reading as I dit delete instead of play. Ahhh, the ups and downs of DVR. I love Technology. I love Direct Satellite TV Because without it, I would have no TV. Remember, I live in the GA Mountains. Where it is freezing…literally. And where I still have snow from almost a week ago. That my friends is unheard of in this neck of the woods!
