It has been interesting cooking without an oven to say the least. Planning every meal around only using the stove top and the crockpot has required some creative thinking at times. I really haven’t ever thought about just how much I use my oven…but I can guarantee that I will never take it for granted again.

Not thinking, I went and bought specific ingredients to make a recipe to share with all of you. I went to two separate grocery stores looking for one of the ingredients. I get home and start to put everything together…and then remembered that I can’t cook it. My oven doesn’t work. DUH Jyl!

So, I will be spending today looking for the part that we think we need to fix the oven. I do know that I have to order it because no one locally or in the surrounding areas carries the part that I need. It is at times like this that I could almost hate living in the country. Almost I said…the concrete jungle is no place for me.

Today, Tate is attending a karate tournament in Tennessee, he asked that I not go. He likes having that little bit of independence going on his own with the instructors from his studio. I was a little bit relieved that I didn’t have to make the long drive and spend the day sitting on the bleachers after wrenching my back several days ago. I am finally able to walk ALMOST straight again but I know that if I went I would be walking crooked once again. I just hope he tries hard, does his best and comes home with a first place trophy. He has been working really hard lately to attain that goal. He has several second, third and fourths but that first has been elusive so far.

Erin will be playing Park Ranger today. She starts back to college on Monday…she and I have both decided that this was the shortest summer ever. It just seems like it has flown by and we haven’t gotten everything done that we wanted to do. She has loved her job with the US Army Corps of Engineers and I am so grateful that she has been able to have the experience. I think her favorite part of her job has been being able to give people tickets.

All that to say…I am going to be home ALONE today!! WooHoo, that is a very rare occurrence, but since Bric also has some things to do it is going to happen today. Now I just have to decide how I am going to totally waste all of that time. And yes, I am seriously going to waste every minute of it doing whatever I want to do without being disturbed!

I hope you have a FABULOUS weekend!!

This has been the craziest few weeks for me. Not only have we been busy, busy, busy but apparently someone has put some kind of bad juju hex on me. My dryer has been on the fritz off and on all year. We have had it repaired several times and now, once again…it is not working correctly. I am thankful that it is still working a little bit because not only did it decide to lay down and wheeze (it hasn’t completely died yet) but my vacuum cleaner decided that it hates us. It decided that it wanted to blow back all the stuff it has to pick up after us and make a really stinky smell that filled the house as a reminder to us that it is in charge.

Now, if that wasn’t enough…I was in the middle of cooking supper a couple of nights ago and my oven decided that it was tired of us as well. It laid down and completely died, it decided that it wasn’t going to limp along the least little bit, it had had enough, it was done.

Today, I was trying to retrieve a text message so that I could answer it and now my phone isn’t working. I can make and receive calls, but no texting for me. Then, as I was walking through the kitchen I looked over at my little window box that holds all my herbs and they had all died.

So, you see…I have some bad mojo, juju, whatever you want to call it going on around here. It isn’t like my appliances are old, none of them are over 4 years old…that is what is so sad. But of course they are all out of warranty. And as far as window boxes go, well apparently I need to put them where I will remember to water them. And that phone that isn’t even 3 months old…it makes me want to curse.

I will take full responsibility for the death of the plants in the window boxes planters, but as for the rest of it I am blaming someone else. I just can’t face the fact that might luck might just be that bad all on it’s on. So, whoever sent all the bad karma my way…PLEASE take it back.

When I was contacted to try out System Mechanic I was a little leery. My past experience with software that “fixes” computer problems has been less that stellar. But, I thought I would give it a shot just to see. WOWSER, am I ever glad that I did! We tried it out on Bric’s computer first without stellar results, but he keeps his up to date and it is always in good condition. Then we decided to check it out on mine. I am so ashamed. Please don’t tell anyone about this but I had like 43, 000 different errors (hangs head in shame). I am not good about doing the things to my computer that need to be done. I had missing links, I had registry errors…it was just a HUGE mess. I knew it wasn’t running all that great but good grief, I think it should have already laid down and died. But, I have to say, System Mechanic saved the day. It fixed every error and problem I had. We were all stunned and impressed! It will make a great gift for the computer guru OR the computer novice. It is simple to use and that makes it the perfect gift for anyone who owns a computer.

System Mechanic is a PC tune-up software which can help fine tune and speed up a PC to keep it running in optimal condition, saving time and frustration. It’s been highly praised for its function and ease of use, and has won the PC Magazine, LAPTOP Magazine, PC Plus, and CNET Editor’s Choice awards. The latest version, SM9,which has some cool new tools such as NetBooster and PCAccelerator is available online and at retailers nation wide. And, each box can be loaded onto 3 different computers. All for the sweet price of $39.99 online or possibly $49.99 in a retailer near you. What all does it do? Well, here are a few of the features:
* Cleans, defrags, & repairs registry
* Accelerates PC startup 19 ways
* Defrags & recovers orphaned RAM
* Boosts internet speed
* Complete low-level drive defrag
* Turns off unused background programs

Yeah, makes a lot of sense to me too. Whatever all that means, I can tell you that it makes your computer run smoother and faster. And that my friends was enough for me!
