McCormick Grill Mates

I absolutely LOVE, love, love McCormick Grill Mates seasonings. I think I have almost every variety in my cabinet and I use them for so many different things…not just to season meats for the grill. Although they are fabulous for that and if you are having a cookout this 4th of July (or any other time for that matter) you should really consider trying out some of their new ones. I tried both the Grill Mates® Slow & Low Smokin’ Texas BBQ Rub and the Grill Mates® Slow & Low Memphis Pit BBQ Rub rubbed on ribs the other day. I don’t think I can decide which I like better so my suggestion is to grab a pack of both!! Having Burgers? No problem!! The Grill Mates® Steakhouse Onion Burger Seasoning is FABULOUS!!! They have SOOOO many different varieties that there is something for everyone and every meat that you can think of. The other day our grill messed up though and we wanted some flavor…as I was browsing the fridge and the cabinet to see what I could throw together I thought Hmmm, what if I mixed up some Grill Mates and some flour, and breaded some pork chops. Grand Slam!! We gobbled those babies up and wished I had made more. So, even if you don’t have a grill, don’t let that limit your imagination on what you can do with McCormicks Grill Mates.

Spiced Brandy and Herb Grill Mates

Choose your favorite flavor packet. I am using Grill Mates Spiced Brandy and Herb marinade. Even though it says it is a marinade it can be used as so much more. We use their marinades as seasonings, rubs and anything else we can think of.

Grill Mates and flour

Mix the packet with some flour (it doesn’t matter if you use all-purpose or self-rising, both work)

pork chops

Heat about 1/4 cup oil in a skillet. Dredge the pork chops in the flour mixture and fry on med-high heat for about 4 minutes per side.

Spiced Brandy and Herb Pork Chops

They will be golden brown and taste like perfection!!

Some of my other favorite recipes that I have made using Grill Mates are: Italian Cheesy Potatoes, Zesty Herb Potatoes, CrockPot London Broil

I hope you get the chance to try any or all of these. They are all so good and will make your family sing your praises. Or grab some Grill Mates, a slab of meat and fire up the grill. You really can’t go wrong either way.

I hope you each have a fun and safe 4th of July Celebration. We will be celebrating this great day of freedom by eating some great food, fellow-shipping with family and friends and floating around the pool. What’s on the menu? I am not completely sure yet other than some pulled pork BBQ made with Grill Mates® Slow & Low Memphis Pit BBQ Rub and some Italian Cheesy Potatoes. The rest is up to the guests since everyone has been asked to bring a side-dish. I will have to update you after I find out myself.

“McCormicks Grill Mates supplied me with some of the seasonings to help facilitate this post. I really have been using their seasoning and spices for forever and day and you just can’t get much better. I was in no other way compensated and all opinions are those of my own.”

Pure Leaf

Are you going to be watching the Kentucky Derby today?? All over the nation folks will be attending, watching or hosting parties to celebrate this iconic event. The first Kentucky Derby race was run in 1875. They say that close to 10,000 people watched as 15 thoroughbred horses ran what was then a 1.5 mile course. In 1876, the length of the race was changed to 1.25 miles. By the early 1900s, owners of winning Kentucky Derby horses started sending their winners to run in the Preakness Stakes in Maryland and the Belmont Stakes in New York. In 1930, sportswriter Charles Hatton coined the term “Triple Crown” in reference to the same horses running the three races consecutively. Today you can expect over 150,00 people in attendance.  Some of the things the Kentucky Derby is KNOWN for though…mint juleps, ladies wearing over the top hats, and lots of good food. The traditional meal of the Kentucky Derby is a rich, meaty stew that is called Burgoo.

So, while I may be watching the “Run for the Roses” I won’t be having Burgoo or mint juleps…but I might have a Tea-Lep! Huh? Well, it is similar, but it’s made with Pure Leaf Sweetened Iced Tea!!! I make all of my drinks non-alcoholic, but you can easily add alcohol to yours. It’s all about choice. And there are so many different recipes you could use and create using Pure Leaf Tea! Here let me share some of the ones that Pure Leaf shared with me that I am excited about:

On my Facebook page today we have been talking goodies. Christmas goodies. Every year I make tons of our favorites and make up baskets to pass out to family and friends. So, what do I put in those baskets? Below you will find a run down of some of the things that I will be making this year (along with links to the recipes) and I will post about others that aren’t on the list next week.

No-Bake Orange Balls

One of my all-time favorite treats are called No-Bake Orange Balls. They are super easy, no baking required and DE-LiCOUS!

My Daddy’s Divinity

Homemade Kit-Kat Bars

No-Name Goodness (Ritz Crackers with peanut Butter dipped in White Chocolate)

Peanut Butter Balls

Peanut Brittle

Potato Candy

AND, Potato Candy. Hey, don’t turn your nose up…the stuff is sinfully good. Seriously! Don’t be fooled by the name, it is a wonderful treat that you will be so glad you tried.

Like I said, these are just a few of the things that I put in my baskets. Add to that Oreo Balls, Cookies, Sausage Balls , etc and I get some very happy friends. What are you making this year??

I absolutely love cooking during Christmas more than any other time of the year. There is nothing better for me than placing tray after tray of homemade goodies on the table and making up goody baskets for all my friends and family. Some of the favorites around here include Fudge made with Nestle Toll House Morsels. Potato Candy, Orange Balls, Oreo Balls, Cookies, etc. etc. etc. I could make a list a mile lomg of all the goodies that we love to make and eat. But, I need to get on to the good stuff.
