We have had a very hard year, but it has also been blessed beyond measure. Earlier this year we were gifted with a large above ground pool. We have had more fun being able to just walk out the back door and take a dip whenever we like than we ever thought imaginable. It has also been fun entertaining family and friends out by the pool. Then, when I had the opportunity to try out a 3M Mobile Projector I was elated. I knew immediately just how I wanted to test it out!

We had a pool/movie party!!!

Do I have pictures?? Nooo, because I didn’t plan correctly. Guess what I use to take photos with…yep, my iPhone. Guess what it was being used for…yep, the projector. LOL, it was one of those DUH moments that makes me feel just how blonde I truly am. We had a blast watching a slide show of family photos and watching movies, eating good food and swimming.

With the 3M Mobile Projector you can download movies from iTunes to your iPhone or iPad and watch on a big screen through the Mobile Projector, you can view family photos, you can play games, etc!!! We simply hung a sheet on the side of the house and watched away.

I love how easy it is to use, even for the technologically challenged folks like me. I didn’t have to ask Bric for help once!! It is small and lightweight making it even more convenient. This pint size mobile projector allows big screen video viewing from Netflix®, YouTube®, iTunes® and more — and you can use it just about anywhere.

3M Mobile Projector

See, it isn’t much bigger than my hand!  And it seriously took me longer to get it out of the box than it did to figure out how to use it. Simply hook up the cable, pull up your content and play. Easy Peasy!!

Talk about a great gift that can be used over and over and over again. Tate and Bric want one just to play games on. We don’t have a large screen TV and they thought it was just too cool that we could just use it to project on the wall.

It can connect to:

  • Connects to iPad®‚ iPad® 2‚ iPhone® (all generations)‚ iPod® Touch‚ iPod® Nano (Generations 3-6)‚ iPod® Classic (cable included)
  • Connects to laptops and computers (additional 3M VGA cable required)
  • Connects to DVD and gaming consoles (additional 3M Composite Cable required)
  • Output a mirrored image of the iPad® 2 screen (3M VGA Cable and Apple VGA Adapter required)

Some of the Features:

  • Up to 2 hours of battery life per charge (or runs continuously on AC power)
  • Projects a screen size of up to 80” diagonally
  • 32 lumens brightness
  • Built-in stereo speakers

“I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of 3M and received a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.”

Pink cup and Emergen-C packet

I was first introduced to Emergen-C when I was traveling about with my friend Christy as she went from city to city signing books. It was fall, people were sniffling and sneezing and I sure as heck didn’t want any part of that. Christy was taking Emergen-C to keep her from getting sick and made me try it. It became a regular part of our routine.

Fast forward several months….

One day Bric was complaining of feeling a little under the weather and was stuffed up, sniffling and sneezing. So, I introduced him to Emergen-C. He was skeptical and I kept telling him he just had to try it, that he would feel better and it would keep him from getting as sick as he normally does. He is a firm believer now!

We keep a regular stock of Emergen-C. Everyone in my family uses it, even my Mom now sneaks in to grab some packets when she feels a little under the weather. Then we all realized we just general felt better anytime we were taking Emergen-C and it became a part of our regular routine. So, when Emergen-C contacted me about trying some of their new products that are now on the market I almost pee’d my pants I was so excited. And ohhhhhMyStinkinHeck…who would have thought to use them in recipes and drinks? I always just made it as the package directed and never thought outside the box. I will be from now on though!!

Below you will find a couple of recipes that are fun, fruity and naturally delicious starring Emergen-C Pink and Emergen-C Hearth Health Powerful Antioxidant Formula*. Have you seen the new Rubbermaid Bento Boxes and Toppers???

I am in LOVE

Serious, serious organizational, OCD soothing, love!

Most storage boxes are just that, storage boxes. Bento Boxes are ohhh so much more. They are designed to organize your items rather than just storing them. See, the inside can be divided up into sections, divide and conquer baby!
Paprika Bento Boxes
Bento helps you organize with:

bento flex divider
Flex Dividers
Bento’s Flex Dividers allow users to customize the inside of the box, creating organization solutions that are perfect for a variety of needs. Flex Dividers pop open when needed, and simply pop back when not. Each Flex Divider can be opened or closed separately of the others to create a permanent home for belongings.

Bento Topper

Toppers
Bento Toppers™ can be used in two distinctive ways. One way is that it can be a tray to display and contain items. By using Bento Toppers this way, you can create boundaries for items that can often take over a counter space such as magazines or mail. Use the Bento Topper on its own, or resting as a tray on top of a Bento Box to contain items like remotes while cov-ering the contents in the box below. The second way to use Bento Toppers is as a lid for the Bento Box by simply flipping over the Topper. This way you can hide things (such as personal bathroom items) that you do not want everyone to see but are needed for easy access.

Bento by Rubbermaid

Design
Bento Boxes and Toppers come in variety of fabric designs and colors to compliment any home décor. The boxes were designed to hold common household items such as DVD & Video Games, File Folders, Mail, Toys, Hair Care Accessories, Audio & Video Accessories, Magazines, Board Games, Crafting Supplies and Office Supplies. Bento Boxes are stackable to make the most out of your space. Covered with polyester, the boxes are durable, yet easy to clean with a damp cloth.

You can visit the Adventures in Organization Blog to read how Rubbermaid and professional organizers use Bento Boxes and Toppers or, here are some ideas and tips for your active storage areas:

Tips for creating Organized Active Storage

Active Storage [ak-tiv stohr-ij] noun – a designated place for items used on a daily basis and accessed frequently

Creating Organized Active Storage that works for you:

Everyone uses active storage, in fact, I bet you have some sort of active storage in your home that is working for you! However, active storage items can also cause constant frustration if not stored correctly because we do use them so frequently and they are often stored in spaces where everyone can see them. So, here is some advice to getting your active storage organized and under control to make your everyday life a little easier!

Determine where you need work.

To do this, simply ask yourself these simple questions: What am I constantly looking for everyday (is it your keys, your son’s water bottle)? What has a place to go but I never put it there (is it your hair brush, your remote control)? What items are cluttering up flat services in your home (is it mail on your counter top or shoes by your front door)? The answers to your questions will help you determine what you need to find a new organizational solution for.

2. Take a step back and explain why it is not working.

You might have to do some investigative work here. For example, you find that you always leave your hair brush on you bed in the morning. You have a place for it to go in your bathroom but your headbands that you wear are in your closet so you take you brush into your bedroom to use it. Active storage should always be where you actually use the item. Or let’s say your kitchen counter-top is continually piled with junk mail and magazines. Be realistic with yourself and the time you have. You probably do not have time to read 5 magazine subscriptions each month but you do have time to read two. So unsubscribe to all but your two favorite. And finally, those keys you are always losing. Do you actually know where you should be putting them? If things do not have a designated home or a place to go once you are not using them, they will get lost.

3. Be creative and design a solution. Then force yourself to follow through and put things away for 30 days (that’s how long it takes to make something a habit).

Here are some tips to keep in mind: Make them easy to get to. If you have to walk into another room and open two drawers to get to it, you will not put it away. Make sure your things have a DESIGNATED home. Not, oh my keys go somewhere on my table but instead – my keys go in the left corner of the Bento Box on my table. Let everyone in your household know where the designated homes are for these items.

“Thank to Rubbermaid for supplying product to help facilitate this review and giveaway. They also supplied some of the info. Of course all the opinions were mine, cause you all know I am pretty opinionated and just can’t imagine letting anyone else inject theirs where mine are due. No other compensation was received and my opinions were in no way influenced by any outside source.”

Over the weekend I HAD to get out of the house. It was such gorgeous weather and I knew I would be miserable sitting here. After a poll no one wanted to go anywhere but me so I struck out on my own and ended up at the flea market. In one of the booths I saw the prettiest little wooden bowls. The sign in front of them said that they were made by a local artisan and that is where my hunt began. The ones they had displayed were very small and were considered soap dishes, I knew I had to have one, but I wanted one that was larger to go on my table to hold the salt and pepper shakers and the napkins.

After a couple of days investigative work I found myself here:

Dad's Wood Shed

Now, let me start by saying…I have been sent to the wood shed on many occasions but it wasn’t for anything good, that I can assure you of. But this wood shed…it was different. It wasn’t for some wrong doing, it was full of treasures. All of which I wanted to bring home. But, due to budget constraints I had to narrow it down. I ended up buying 4 bowls because I just couldn’t decide and because his prices are PHENOMENAL!

Who is he? Meet Ruel Manning:

Ruel Manning

Mr. Manning is such an interesting man. Here he is giving me a demonstration on what it takes to make a bowl. Me, I would have to be taking lots of muscle supplements. He also makes vases, bird houses, little decorative boxes, pepper-mills, etc. As we were talking I asked him what the hardest part of wood turning was and I was amazed by his answer. Mr. Manning said that the hardest part of wood turning is watching a piece that you had been working on crack or break and having to chunk it. He stated that a piece of you goes into every creation. You handle them with care and pour your soul into them and when they break or don’t turn out quiet right it is like you loose a little piece of yourself.

wood turned birdhouse

Now that is a man who loves his work! He even hand makes the majority of his tools and has been teaching his son and grandson the art of wood turning. Passing down this time-honored art, generation to generation. One day, I hope to have pieces from all of them.

Ruel Manning Hand made tools

And it shows in his pieces:

African Mahogoney Platter

Above was the first piece I picked up. I fell in LOVE. I went looking for a piece to go in the center of my table and it was perfect. What I didn’t know was that it is made out of an exotic wood that is very expensive. In other words, that made this piece out of my budget. But, the African Mahogany makes some GORGEOUS platters!

So, this is the one that I chose for my table:

wood bowl for my table

It holds everything I wanted it to hold and looks great! It is made out of a Box Elder tree that had a fungus. The fungus doesn’t affect the bowl in any way, but it does add some red streaks in the bowl/platter which I personally love. See, I like the rustic look. I like the natural flaws and prefer that the pieces that I chose do not look perfect. I want the natural beauty to show through.

This is my other favorite. It is made out of Maple.

Maple wood bowl

And this one is made from a Bradford Pear Tree:

Aren’t they gorgeous?!

THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW OVER.

” I was not compensated in any way shape or form for this post. I bought the bowls myself and Mr. Manning doesn’t even have a website that you can order off of. So, he won’t even see this post written all bout him and his bowls. I just loved them so much that I had to share. And, if you would like to see about purchasing one for yourself…you would have to e-mail me and I would have to go for another visit and then ship it to you. Of course that means that I would probably come home with another bowl and while I would like to say that I really shouldn’t…It wouldn’t hurt my feelings one bit.”
