FANTAGE.COM is a colorful virtual world where tweens cruise around castles, forests, and cities on rocket boards. Along the way, they can shop (virtually), play games, and meet fellow Fantagians. They can use their purchases to dress their characters in different clothes to suit their mood. For keeping in touch with buddies, there’s group chat (regular or safe mode), Instant Messaging, and texting. A premium membership can be purchased for $5.99 per month which allows for a bigger allowance and more places to hang out, but Fantagians can also earn virtual bucks through game play. Kids under 13 need a parent to activate their account, and parents can choose levels of safety options. I think Fantage is a great site that allows kids to play freely without parents having to worry about who they are interacting with. The games are fun and entertaining. Fantage has a lot to offer the tween set that is looking for a place to hang out and interact online. There are also extras on the website such as wallpaper, stationery, coloring pages, cards, etc.

Plant A Seed!
May 12th, 2009Mom Central teamed up with Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes back in January to let everyone know about the Earn Your Stripes (EYS) field renovation program that is aimed to renovate neighborhood sports fields across the U.S. Since that time, thousands of fields were nominated, some with as many as 700,000 supporters! Those fields have now been narrowed down to 100 finalists and your vote will help determine the winning fields.
The semifinalist fields were chosen based on the feasibility of the field makeover, the location and age of the field, how often it gets used, how many events take place, what teams use it, the number of other athletic fields in the community, the demand, condition, and the impact a field renovation would have on the community.
From May 1st through the 31st, you can vote for your favorite semifinalist field at www.frostedflakes.com. Do you have a field in your area that got nominated or do you like one with a particularly compelling story? Those who nominated these fields described the conditions as having inadequate grass, equipment, uneven playing surfaces and other problems. These renovations will help to build community and provide better places for kids to stay active and play.
We need your help in spreading the word about the program and encouraging others to vote this month. This is a great opportunity to improve the playing grounds for kids somewhere…and it might just be near you. So please, go vote today. Even if there isn’t one in your area, vote for the one that grabs your heart!
I think it is so great that Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes takes such an active role in getting our kids to be active and healthy and are willing to help improve places that allow that to come to fruition. Now let’s show them that we support their goal by voting and planting our seed to make it all happen!
