The world is abuzz. What a week of breaking news we have had.

Amanda Knox was freed from prison and returned to her her home in Washington State after spending 4 years in an Italian prison for something she has claimed she did not do from the start. I always kinda believed she was innocent. I can’t even imagine the over-whelming emotions she is facing. I hope that the media will give her a little space and time to readjust to life and allow her to just lie in the grass and look at the sky, something she could only dreamed about for 4 years.

Then Steve Jobs passed away. Not much more can be said about that. Great inventor. Great Visionary. Will be greatly missed.

Then, the news came that 2 guys burglarized a house out in California in order to get some blank CD’s to burn music onto. Boy were they ever surprised to get home and find those CD’s filled with child porn. They ended up doing the right thing by turning the CD’s over to the police and admitting what they had done so that the police could investigate the man they burglarized. But, the kicker…the man filed a police report about his house being robed and told them the only thing taken was the CD’s.  Not his brightest move. Hope he has a good lawyer, someone like everett gaskins hancock llp cause if he is that stupid he is sure gonna need one.

It is such a nasty day here. Raining. Thundering, Lightning.

We are all holed up having a really lazy day since the weather isn’t fit to get out in. It is really kinda a good thing, it gives me time to get caught up on a bunch of stuff that I have been needing to get done but have put off because I really don’t want to do any of it. All that stuff like the mounds of laundry that resemble Mount Rushmore. Dishes that have been accumulating since Noah parked the Ark. Yeah, I know..I just haven’t had enough hours in the day.

I also need to be looking for Erin some insurance. Probably not Blue Cross Blue Shield North Carolina since she will more than likely be living in South Carolina, but something. I also need to be checking into a National car insurance since we really have no clue where all she will be living over the course of her fiance’s military career.

I am just dying to post a picture of Erin’s Wedding dress. We picked it up yesterday but since my future Son-In-Law keeps up with us though here and Facebook I can’t and it is about to kill me to show you. She has also picked out her shoes…she is going to wear sparkly Converse. Now we have to find the perfect veil. And the 50 million other things on our list.

Now, I am going to make BBQ sauce. And watch it rain some more.

Well folks, Hicktown has had an exciting week! More than 10 law enforcement agencies(including the FBI) converged upon our little town after they had built a case over 14 months before taking down a cockfighting operation in southern Murray County last Saturday. And of course…that has been the talk of the town ever since.

An hour before noon several units hit a farmhouse on Berry Bennett Road and arrested 67 people, said Murray County Sheriff Howard Ensley. “Most of them were charged with gambling and cruelty to animals, but four people were charged with commercial gambling and two others were charged with drugs,” he said. “We also seized over $40,000 in cash.”

Now the 100+ chickens that were seized…they are having to undergo testing for STD’s – Sparring Transmitted Diseases.

Next in Hicktown News: Grandmother pleads guilty to embezzling more than $1 million. Just after beginning work at a Whitfield County insurance company in 2002, a Chatsworth woman began skimming from the books to pay off credit card bills and expensive trips. At the time, the business was young and had just started to need someone to manage their books. They hired the now 63-year-old grandmother as an accountant, prosecutors said, and from May 2003 to August 2009 she allegedly forged her supervisor’s signature on company checks and used them to pay her personal credit card bills – which totaled more than $1 million. Talk about receiving term life insurance quotes…wonder if she’ll get 20-life?

Hey, I told you it had been an exciting week around here. We have all kinds of new stuff to talk about. Should last us for several weeks.

Uggg, it is Monday…and it has reared it’s ugly head around here. The chaos and mayhem have started. Erin is on Spring Break from college this week which makes Tate think that he should be on Spring Break. So, instead of our normally scheduled programming this week…you are going to see me in mental breakdown from the fights, arguments, mountains of laundry and dishes.

I do have some news for you…remember my poor Dollar General store that was on fire? Well, it was found to be arson! Set by the manager!! Ohh, he is on my list. Because of him I have to drive to town for a bag of sugar. Although he has been taken into custody and charged with arson the details have not been released. My guess is that he set fire to the store to cover up all of his stealing. He has been seen at the store at like 4 in the morning with his truck and trailer backed up…and that just speaks of theivery. He was a weird fellow too…in a creepy kinda way. I hope that the Dollar General had a good home insurance quote. Ok, so it wouldn’t be home insurance, but you know what I mean. I still haven’t heard if they will be opening the store back up…but I certainly hope so. Maybe they will ask me my opinion. HA! Like they even know who I am.

“The Alleged Arsonist”

In other news we had a Home Invasion. IN HICKTOWN! Yeah…that has been the talk of the town for a week now. A Home Invasion. Everyone has been in shock over it because as we all like to say: Things like that just don’t happen around here. Well, guess we can’t say that now because happen it did!

AND, Congressman Nathan Deal said that he is resigning from Congress so that he can concentrate on the Georgia governor’s race. This thrills me! I like Nathan Deal. When we went to Washington DC we got to tour the Capital Building thanks to him and his wonderful staff. And he is one of those home town guys that listens. It is going to be interesting to see how this turns out but I am rooting for him.

Ok, I think that gets you all caught up for the moment. Will let you know if the pigeons come in with any more breaking news.
