McCormick Grill Mates

I absolutely LOVE, love, love McCormick Grill Mates seasonings. I think I have almost every variety in my cabinet and I use them for so many different things…not just to season meats for the grill. Although they are fabulous for that and if you are having a cookout this 4th of July (or any other time for that matter) you should really consider trying out some of their new ones. I tried both the Grill Mates® Slow & Low Smokin’ Texas BBQ Rub and the Grill Mates® Slow & Low Memphis Pit BBQ Rub rubbed on ribs the other day. I don’t think I can decide which I like better so my suggestion is to grab a pack of both!! Having Burgers? No problem!! The Grill Mates® Steakhouse Onion Burger Seasoning is FABULOUS!!! They have SOOOO many different varieties that there is something for everyone and every meat that you can think of. The other day our grill messed up though and we wanted some flavor…as I was browsing the fridge and the cabinet to see what I could throw together I thought Hmmm, what if I mixed up some Grill Mates and some flour, and breaded some pork chops. Grand Slam!! We gobbled those babies up and wished I had made more. So, even if you don’t have a grill, don’t let that limit your imagination on what you can do with McCormicks Grill Mates.

Spiced Brandy and Herb Grill Mates

Choose your favorite flavor packet. I am using Grill Mates Spiced Brandy and Herb marinade. Even though it says it is a marinade it can be used as so much more. We use their marinades as seasonings, rubs and anything else we can think of.

Grill Mates and flour

Mix the packet with some flour (it doesn’t matter if you use all-purpose or self-rising, both work)

pork chops

Heat about 1/4 cup oil in a skillet. Dredge the pork chops in the flour mixture and fry on med-high heat for about 4 minutes per side.

Spiced Brandy and Herb Pork Chops

They will be golden brown and taste like perfection!!

Some of my other favorite recipes that I have made using Grill Mates are: Italian Cheesy Potatoes, Zesty Herb Potatoes, CrockPot London Broil

I hope you get the chance to try any or all of these. They are all so good and will make your family sing your praises. Or grab some Grill Mates, a slab of meat and fire up the grill. You really can’t go wrong either way.

I hope you each have a fun and safe 4th of July Celebration. We will be celebrating this great day of freedom by eating some great food, fellow-shipping with family and friends and floating around the pool. What’s on the menu? I am not completely sure yet other than some pulled pork BBQ made with Grill Mates® Slow & Low Memphis Pit BBQ Rub and some Italian Cheesy Potatoes. The rest is up to the guests since everyone has been asked to bring a side-dish. I will have to update you after I find out myself.

“McCormicks Grill Mates supplied me with some of the seasonings to help facilitate this post. I really have been using their seasoning and spices for forever and day and you just can’t get much better. I was in no other way compensated and all opinions are those of my own.”

I love to play with food coloring. It makes life so brighter! We have always had fun making out own play dough and gunk and other eewy gooey treasures but recently my niece contacted me and asked me to help her organize a bridal shower on the frugal budget (she is a college kid after all). So, we started looking and talking about what we could do. So, here are some of the ideas…

If you have been here for awhile you will remember my super easy, can’t mess them up Kool-Aid Pies. Well, we are making those with McCormicks Food Coloring added to them to give them a brighter, livelier color. My favorite has always been the lemon, but it looks white. So I added some yellow McCormicks Food Coloring and they turned out GREAT!! Let me show you…

You need: A Graham cracker pie crust, a can of sweetened condensed milk, a tub of whipped topping, a package of Kool-Aid (don’t use a different brand, trust me on this) a piece of fruit the same flavor as your kool-aid for garnish and McCormicks food coloring to enhance the color of your pie.

Mix the whipped topping, the sweetened condensed milk and the kool-aid together. Make sure it is very well blended. Then, once it is all mixed together I add the food coloring. For lemon I used Yellow and for Lime I used green.Once it is mixed very well and you have the color that you want, pour it into your pie shell.

Then garnish and refrigerate till you are ready to serve it.

It really is THAT easy!! It is also one of my most requested deserts it is so good.

Then we talked about flowers. In Hick Town, pretty colorful flowers aren’t the easiest to come by. So, we bought white. Filled glasses with water and added some McCormicks Food Coloring and are making our own. Did you know that you could do that? When the flowers “drink” the colored water, they turn colors. Cool huh? I thought so.

We got our glasses, food coloring and flowers ready.

Added our food coloring to our water.

Mixed and inserted flowers. Now we just wait for them to drink up and change colors. These will make great center pieces for our tables.

And of course playing with food coloring would never be complete without making a cupcake or two. And turning them bright blue. So all the goo left by the sugar shows up on your teeth.

Now, I am going to eat my cupcake! How do you play with food coloring?
