The Swap
January 16th, 2010My kids decided to swap rooms. That may not sound like a big deal to most people…but you don’t know my kids. Erin is the messiest girl alive and Tate is a packrat. I told them, it was all up to them…I wasn’t getting involved in this adventure. It took them 4 days. FOUR days. It was almost enough to drive me over the edge to drinking. I thought those 2 would never finish and there is still stuff crammed into the laundry room. What did I do this whole time? I decided since I couldn’t drink I would start gambling online.
I am not a poker player. Never have been. So, I read the instructions. I think Blackjack is more my speed. Less skill involved.
Do you gamble online? One thing about it, the other players wouldn’t be able to see that I have absolutely no poker face. I give everything away. When we all get together here at my house and play Shanghai Rummy…everyone knows what kind of hand I have. There is just no hiding it.
Now, what was the craziest thing found during the big room swap? An empty jar of cake frosting. I will just let you guess which one was hiding that away. Oh, we did get rid of about a thousand pounds of rocks though. My house leveled back out.
Draggin Along
January 14th, 2010I am so tired…I need about 4 more hours in the day. 2 hours to get a few more things accomplished and 2 hours to get more sleep. My eyes are so droopy that I don’t think the best eye cream in the world could make them look even half way normal. And the craziest thing of all? My whole household is still up.
My crazy kids have decided that they want to swap rooms. Why? Because Erin’s room is cold and Tate’s room is hot. Tate would rather be cold than hot and Erin would rather be hot than cold. Go figure.
All I know is that they have conned talked me into it and being the sucker that I am I agreed that they could and they started on it today. That was my biggest mistake of 2010 so far.Yeah, I know…that isn’t saying much, we are only 14 days in at this point. But heck, it sounded good. Right?
Super Z & Super Fun Times
August 16th, 2009Super Z is a shortened version of Super Zeitgeist. What the heck is that you ask? Well, a band of course. Super Z was shortened specifically for their kids CD since their name posed a problem for kids to say. It actually means “the spirit of the times” in German. They take it as living in the moment, creating and performing.

Super Fun Times is a collection of songs that Super Z has been writing, playing and performing for the last couple of years. The lead singer has a 3 year old son and they found themselves writing all these kids songs and decided to put them together in a CD for your child’s enjoyment.
The songs are upbeat and fun for any preschooler. My favorite is “La-La-La Let’s Go”, but the kids really thought that “Plant In My Hair” was so funny.
You can preview and purchase their CD at www.cdbaby.com/superz
If you would like to follow them on Twitter they can be found at : http://twitter.com/superzeitgeist
You can also find their other songs at : www.myspace.com/zeitgeist
Get A JumpStart! (GIVEAWAY)
August 4th, 2009
With school starting back for kids a good education is on the minds of parents everywhere. On the minds of kids everywhere is enjoying the last days of summer. For more than 15 years, Knowledge Adventure has set the standard in children’s software by creating the finest educational products for use in the home and the classroom. In addition to their CD games, they’ve launched a beta version of their first browser-based virtual world at www.JumpStart.com for kids 3-10 years old. Kids can create avatars called Jumpeez for themselves and explore magical worlds, discovering and unlocking games, videos, and storybooks that help them practice essential skills from math to reading. Over the next year, they will continue to add more features, portals, and learning games to this site. I encourage you to check it out at www.JumpStart.com and combine your child’s sense of adventure and fun with your desire to educate and teach them.

At first we had several issues with this site. It was slow to load and would skip and act like a record that got hung up. I contacted JumpStart and found that it was me, not them. It is recommended that you use Internet Explorer and I was using Firefox. Once I switched browsers I had no problems at all. So with things running much smoother, the fun began. The kids LOVED the ease of the site and how they can wander around and explore finding fun activities at every turn. You can allow your children to play without the fear of them running into people or things that they shouldn’t be exposed to. It is completely safe. And while they are having fun, they won’t even realize that they are learning as well. The game teaches math, reading, and critical thinking skills so kids get a real jump start in life. They even have several 3D Virtual World titles available on CD Rom.

We have used JumpStart CD based programs for many years. Erin, my 18 year old college bound gal even used JumpStart when she was little. Over the years we have watched as they have expanded their line and grown to meet parents demand for more. While browsing around their website I even found several more things that we want to check out. The Code Heads and Dr. Brain line!
If you are looking for some fun and educational products to help your child get a head start…I highly suggest you give it to them with JumpStart!
And you can enter to win a 3-Month Membership to the new JumpStart browser based virtual world for your child.
To enter visit www.jumpstart.com and browse around and all the great things they have to offer to parents and kids alike. Leave a comment stating what you would like for your child to learn. All entries must be received by August 14 at 5 PM EST. Winners will be selected randomly and will have 3 days to respond to the verification e-mail before another winner will be chosen.
