Coffee is a big deal in my house. We love to go to that big name coffee place and grab a specialty coffee but gosh darn it, there isn’t one close by and they are expensive. So, we decided to work on making some of our favorites at home using our Keurig and Green Mountain Coffees NEW Barista Prima Coffeehouse K-Cup portion packs.

Keurig

We have had a little too much fun doing so. I brought you our homemade version of a Pumpkin Spiced Latte HERE. Today, we are making a Salted Caramel Mocha Latte! It just happens to be my favorite. Coffee, Caramel and Chocolate, how can you go wrong?

Salted Caramel Mocha Latte

salted caramel mocha latte ingredients

Ingredients:

1 cup milk, steamed
1 cup very strong coffee (I used Green Mountain Coffees NEW Barista Prima Coffeehouse K-Cup Italian Roast but any of the stronger blends will work)
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
2 tablespoons of sugar
2 and 1/2 tablespoons caramel coffee syrup (I bought mine at our local dollar store. Feel free to adjust to your taste)
Whipped cream
Caramel Sauce
1/8 teaspoon sea salt or kosher salt

Directions:

Prepare your Keurig and brew 1 cup of coffee

In a pot, heat up one cup of milk until it is steaming. Froth the milk with a wire whisk or a blender until it is nice and foamy.

~If you use a blender…make sure you put your lid on good. I had a BIG mess. LOL~

In your coffee cup, mix together the prepared coffee, cocoa powder, sugar, and caramel coffee syrup until the sugar and cocoa powder are dissolved and there are no lumps. Pour the milk foam over the top of the coffee/mocha mixture and stir. Top with whipped cream, a generous drizzle of caramel sauce, and your pinch of salt. Another way you can play with this recipe…since I do not liked whipped cream on top of mine I simply added the caramel sauce and salt into my cup and mixed it up.  DE-lic-ious!! Think I will go have another.

How easy is that? Yep, simple! And delicious! And costs so much less than visiting a coffee-shop!

Barista Prima CoffeeHouse k-Cups

We don’t live near a coffee shop. If you want a specialty coffee drink in these parts you either learn to make it yourself or drive 45 minutes one way to get it. That makes for one expensive coffee fix if you decide to drive for one. So, I have been playing with different ways to make specialty coffee drinks using my Keurig and their new line of Barista Prima CoffeeHouse K-Cups from Green Mountain Coffees. Talk about some YUMMY experimenting!  What are the new Barista Prima Coffeehouse K-Cup portion packs?  They are an exclusive collection of the world’s finest Arabica coffees roasted in the tradition of Europe’s most celebrated coffee houses. You can change the sugar and fat content of this recipe quite easily. Just use low-fat milk, sugar substitute, etc. Me, I go for the real stuff, I SHOULD go or the low-fat but well, when I go, I go big!

Pumpkin Spice Latte
makes 2 servings

Ingredients:
2 cups milk
2 tablespoons canned pumpkin
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
Coffee – To make the coffee I used a French Roast Barista Prima CoffeeHouse K-cup. It is the darkest roast out of the new line. I used the smallest cup setting and divided the cup between the two drinks.

Directions:
In a saucepan combine milk, pumpkin and sugar and cook on medium heat, stirring, until steaming. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla and spice, transfer to a blender and process for 15 seconds until foamy. If you don’t have a blender  just whisk the mixture really well with a wire whisk.

Pour into two large mugs. Add the coffee on top.

You can also top with whipped cream and sprinkle pumpkin pie spice, nutmeg, or cinnamon on top. No one here likes whipped cream on their coffee though so we skipped this step. All about personal preference. But we do like some extra cinnamon on top of ours.

“Thanks to Green Mountain Coffees and the new  Barista Prima Coffeehouse K-Cup portion packs for supplying me with these wonderful new k-cups for review. I was in no other way compensated, I just LOVE my K-Cups and Keurig. And I loved making this specialty drink just for you. Ok, so really it was for me and I am sharing it with you. I needed my fix and refuse to pay $5-$6 for a specialty drink and have to drive 45 minutes to get it. And as always, all opinions are mine, because really, no one else seems to want them. “

There are some events in life that always stick out more than others. And as they happen, you get that instantaneous knowledge that this will stick with you forever.

I had one of those moments this week. It was life altering and I NEVER want to have to face anything like it ever again!

My Keurig BROKE. My first thought was that I was going to have a heart attack, second that I was going to die a long, painful, horrible death. Seriously! I am not joking.

See, I am not allowed to use a regular coffee pot. I may can cook up a delicious feast for mega amounts of people, but I cannot make a decent pot of coffee to save my life. Just ask anyone. Bric banned me from even looking at his coffee pot about 12 years ago and made it very clear that it was grounds for divorce if I even thought about it. Some men like fancy cars or things like martinbros custom wheels. My guy likes his coffee. So you see, the Keurig actually saved my marriage.  I could now easily make my own coffee, cup by delicious cup. It was always perfect. Always good. Always dependable. Then it had to go and break on me.

I searched for what the problem might be, cleaned it as instructed, still nothing. Then, I called the Keurig help desk. Talk about some FABULOUS, WONDERFUL customer service!! They walked me through several checks, decided that my Keurig was beyond repair and sent me out a brand new one!! I was floored, and elated, and dancing with glee. My sanity was saved, my marriage would survive and I can now live to see another day!

I LOVE you Keurig!!!

I know that you have all been waiting to hear who the winner of the Keurig is. My plan was to get it up early this morning but I slept in a little.  After a day of playing in the sun I was sort of tired.  Swimming has to be one of the best fat burners known to man.  It sure does wear you out at least.

Now, on to the winner:
