Coffee is a big deal in my house. We love to go to that big name coffee place and grab a specialty coffee but gosh darn it, there isn’t one close by and they are expensive. So, we decided to work on making some of our favorites at home using our Keurig and Green Mountain Coffees NEW Barista Prima Coffeehouse K-Cup portion packs.

Keurig

We have had a little too much fun doing so. I brought you our homemade version of a Pumpkin Spiced Latte HERE. Today, we are making a Salted Caramel Mocha Latte! It just happens to be my favorite. Coffee, Caramel and Chocolate, how can you go wrong?

Salted Caramel Mocha Latte

salted caramel mocha latte ingredients

Ingredients:

1 cup milk, steamed
1 cup very strong coffee (I used Green Mountain Coffees NEW Barista Prima Coffeehouse K-Cup Italian Roast but any of the stronger blends will work)
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
2 tablespoons of sugar
2 and 1/2 tablespoons caramel coffee syrup (I bought mine at our local dollar store. Feel free to adjust to your taste)
Whipped cream
Caramel Sauce
1/8 teaspoon sea salt or kosher salt

Directions:

Prepare your Keurig and brew 1 cup of coffee

In a pot, heat up one cup of milk until it is steaming. Froth the milk with a wire whisk or a blender until it is nice and foamy.

~If you use a blender…make sure you put your lid on good. I had a BIG mess. LOL~

In your coffee cup, mix together the prepared coffee, cocoa powder, sugar, and caramel coffee syrup until the sugar and cocoa powder are dissolved and there are no lumps. Pour the milk foam over the top of the coffee/mocha mixture and stir. Top with whipped cream, a generous drizzle of caramel sauce, and your pinch of salt. Another way you can play with this recipe…since I do not liked whipped cream on top of mine I simply added the caramel sauce and salt into my cup and mixed it up.  DE-lic-ious!! Think I will go have another.

How easy is that? Yep, simple! And delicious! And costs so much less than visiting a coffee-shop!

Barista Prima CoffeeHouse k-Cups

We don’t live near a coffee shop. If you want a specialty coffee drink in these parts you either learn to make it yourself or drive 45 minutes one way to get it. That makes for one expensive coffee fix if you decide to drive for one. So, I have been playing with different ways to make specialty coffee drinks using my Keurig and their new line of Barista Prima CoffeeHouse K-Cups from Green Mountain Coffees. Talk about some YUMMY experimenting!  What are the new Barista Prima Coffeehouse K-Cup portion packs?  They are an exclusive collection of the world’s finest Arabica coffees roasted in the tradition of Europe’s most celebrated coffee houses. Barista Prima Coffeehouse’s® darker, richer blends are designed for the passionate coffee lover. Barista Prima Coffeehouse K-Cup portion packs feature:  Bold and complex flavors and the  Deepest, darkest blends to come from the Keurig coffee brewer.

Available in four delicious varieties:

§ Colombia

§ House Blend

§ Italian Roast

§ French Roast

Each cup reflects the consummate artistry and handcrafted care that only the most skilled baristas can deliver – until now. Now you can brew like a barista at home!

Fall brings one of our favorite drinks to coffee-houses, one that is hard for us to pass up. But, lucky for all of us, the Pumpkin Spiced Latte’s can be made at home with very few ingredients, little work, and saving LOTS of money.

You can change the sugar and fat content of this recipe quite easily. Just use low-fat milk, sugar substitute, etc. Me, I go for the real stuff, I SHOULD go or the low-fat but well, when I go, I go big!

Pumpkin Spice Latte
makes 2 servings

Ingredients:
2 cups milk
2 tablespoons canned pumpkin
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
Coffee – To make the coffee I used a French Roast Barista Prima CoffeeHouse K-cup. It is the darkest roast out of the new line. I used the smallest cup setting and divided the cup between the two drinks.

Directions:
In a saucepan combine milk, pumpkin and sugar and cook on medium heat, stirring, until steaming. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla and spice, transfer to a blender and process for 15 seconds until foamy. If you don’t have a blender  just whisk the mixture really well with a wire whisk.

Pour into two large mugs. Add the coffee on top.

You can also top with whipped cream and sprinkle pumpkin pie spice, nutmeg, or cinnamon on top. No one here likes whipped cream on their coffee though so we skipped this step. All about personal preference. But we do like some extra cinnamon on top of ours.

“Thanks to Green Mountain Coffees and the new  Barista Prima Coffeehouse K-Cup portion packs for supplying me with these wonderful new k-cups for review. I was in no other way compensated, I just LOVE my K-Cups and Keurig. And I loved making this specialty drink just for you. Ok, so really it was for me and I am sharing it with you. I needed my fix and refuse to pay $5-$6 for a specialty drink and have to drive 45 minutes to get it. And as always, all opinions are mine, because really, no one else seems to want them. “

I have had my Keurig Brewer for several months now…and I love it as much today as when I first got it. It makes the perfect cup of coffee each and every time with no guess work involved. No measuring or guessing how much coffee grounds to use, no measuring or guessing how much water to use. It is wonderful.

No matter what your taste in coffee happens to be, there is a K-Cup that you will love with over 200 different varieties available. They also have teas, hot chocolates and ice teas and coffees available. We are loving the iced coffee blends since it has already been so hot this summer.

You may be asking yourself why a single cup brewer is better. The main reason for me is that I can’t make a decent pot of coffee to save my life. The Keurig saves me time, hassle, money, and sanity. That folks is why it is better for me. And it truly is a better way to enjoy a gourmet cup of coffee. Especially for folks like me that do not have a coffee shop nearby. Or if you want to save some money. Or if you just like to sit on the back porch to drink your coffee. Ok, so you get the picture…it’s just better in so many different ways.

One of my most FAVORITE things to make using my Keurig is Coffee Milkshakes. Yummmmmy!

keurig coffee

To get started making a coffee milkshake of your own, brew a fresh cup of coffee. (I used a French Vanilla K-Cup…one of my favs!)

Once your coffee is finished brewing add 2 Tablespoons of sugar so that it can dissolve.

While your coffee is cooling, get your blender out and set up.

Measure out 3 cups of vanilla ice cream (or any flavor that you choose) and place in blender.

Add 1 cup of ice cubes

1 TBSP of Vanilla

1/3 cup of milk

And last add 1 cup of coffee

blender

Blend all together until smooth and has the consistency of a milkshake.

Bre Over Ice Keurig Cup

A good cup of coffee in the middle of 100 degree weather can be hard to take sometimes. It is just so hot that you really don’t want a hot beverage but you still want that coffee fix. Well, take a look at the new Green Mountain Coffee Brew Over Ice Keurig Cups (K-Cups) for the summer:

New for this summer are Green Mountain Coffee®Nantucket Blend®and French Vanilla Iced Coffee in K-Cups. Both are based on the popular hot versions of their namesakes, but are specially blended to provide full flavor when brewed into a cup of ice.

And for the iced tea lovers, two new Celestial Seasonings® Perfect Iced Teas are debuting: Half and Half (part black tea, part lemonade) and Southern Sweet Tea. Don’t ya just love how easy it is? Me Too!! If you remember, I am not allowed to make an actual pot of coffee. Bric banned me from that years ago so when I was first introduced to a Keurig, I was THRILLED! I can now make a cup of coffee and it turns out perfect every time. No guess work…ok, so there isn’t any work involved at all. I love all of the different flavors and varieties that Green Mountain Coffee offers and I am really loving the Brew Over Ice varieties and the fact that I can have an Iced Coffee anytime I want without have to leave the house and without paying a fortune.
