IHOP fall menu carrot cake pancakes

OhhhMyStinkinHeck!!! This past weekend as we were out and about spending some time as a family we decided to drop into IHOP and check out their new line of fall pancakes. It was soo hard to choose. New York Cheesecake Pancakes. Pumpkin Pancakes. Carrot Cake Pancakes. Oh goodness, after agonizing over which to choose I finally decided on the Carrot Cake Pancakes. I was NOT disappointed. My tastebuds went into over-drive. My belly sang the songs of heaven. They were FABULOUS!!!

Bric went all out and got the sampler platter. Ham, Sausage, Bacon, eggs, hashbrowns and IHOP’s famous original pancakes. Tate had a little of everything I think. I swear that boy is a bottom-less pit.

And since we all decided to go all out…I just had to get the new Jack, Cheddar and Bacon Potatoes. Loaded with flavor — and my favorite ingredients — the potatoes come with chopped hickory-smoked bacon and melted Cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses, sour cream and green onions. They’re served with two eggs and two fluffy buttermilk pancakes.

But I HIGHLY recommend the IHOP Carrot Cake Pancakes on their new fall menu. If carrot isn’t your thing though…perhaps you should try the Pumpkin Pancakes. Because after all, what else would IHOP do with more than 100 tons of pumpkin this fall?

IHOP, known for its world famous buttermilk pancakes, announced today that its fall line-up of signature pancakes will include a trio of the company’s most popular flap jack favorites: New York Cheesecake, Pumpkin and, back again for the first time in four years, Carrot Cake pancakes. The unique flavor offerings continue IHOP’s tradition of satisfying customers with specialty pancakes made from seasonal ingredients.

Starting at $4.99, the new trio of signature pancakes will be available at participating IHOP locations nationwide beginning October 8th through January 2013:

· Pumpkin Pancakes: Made with real pumpkin, spices and crowned with creamy whipped topping. Pumpkin is the perennial #1 selling limited-time offer Signature pancake. Last year IHOP served 3.1 million pumpkin pancakes.

· New York Cheesecake Pancakes: Griddled with real cheesecake pieces, then crowned with glazed strawberries and creamy whipped topping. More than 250,000 pounds of cheesecake were used last year for fans of this item.

· Carrot Cake Pancakes: Rounding out this season’s offerings is an oatmeal spice pancake recipe featuring a sweet-savory mix of fresh, diced apples, shredded carrots, coconut, raisins, crunchy walnut pieces topped with whipped butter and a drizzle of cream cheese icing.

Buford Highway Farmers Market

Yesterday I had to take my niece to the airport and it provided me with the perfect opportunity to visit the Buford Hwy Farmer’s Market. I heard about it a few weeks ago and have been trying my best to get there but something always seemed to come up. Well, I finally made it and it was everything I had heard and more!!

Foods of the World

As you walk in you see a big world globe…because well, they have foods from all over the world!

It is amazing at the HUGE variety of foods that they have. They also have flowers, wall fountains outdoor, nesting dolls, small appliances, kitchen tools, etc. Basically, you name it!

sugar plums

Look!

It’s Sugar Plums…that will be dancing in my head!

I saw all kinds of produce that I had no idea even existed. Indian Bitter Melon which I bought for my Mom because it is supposed to help with cholesterol. I also bought dragon fruit and Korean melon (which I will tell you about in another post).

produce

This is just a small portion of the produce section. The produce section alone is larger than most grocery stores.

pork uterus

They also have a large meat section. With EVERY kind of meat you can possibly imagine and some you never want to see again. I mean really, WHO would buy a pork uterus??? And what would you do with it? Ohhh, never mind, I don’t think I really want to know the answer to that.

They had everything from traditional cuts to the exotic. Trust me when I say they had every part of an animal you could ever want to purchase.

seafood

And the seafood department was HUGE! So many different kinds of fish, shrimp, mussels, crab, etc.

octopus

Even Octopus.

NOOOOO, I didn’t come home with that.

I did however buy some weird octopus flavored chips from the Asian section.I just couldn’t resist getting them and making Tate try them. He is like Mikey, he will eat anything. And he did try them…and liked them. I couldn’t try them…they smelled horrid and once I got that first whiff I was done.

teas

Teas, as far as the eye can see.

international grogery

Each aisle is marked with the region that the food comes from. It makes it easy to navigate your way around the globe. Chinese, Japanese, Korean, European, Jamaican, Hispanic, African and American foods are all represented. We spent hours browsing around and being amazed at all the things available that we had never seen before. I can’t wait to go back and I suggest that if you are ever in the Atlanta area you make it a point to visit the Buford Highway Farmer’s Market. They have no idea who I am and this post is in no way sponsered by them, I just had to share a small piece of my experience with you because I felt I had truly taken a trip around the world.

There are just some things that you just can’t get when you live out in the middle of nowhere. Thai food is one of them. I had never even tasted Thai food before Thai Kitchen came into my life and now it is forever altered. I am in love! We have made several dishes now and while I at first was intimidated by the thought of making Thai food at home, it turns out to be super easy. You will need some basic ingredients:

ingredients

From the above basic ingredients you can make a host of different dishes.

A really easy one that has become a beloved dish around here is Red Curry Chicken:

One dish that we plan to make soon is Pad Thai. Everyone that I have talked to about Thai food over the last few days says it is a must try. The great thing about Thai Kitchen is that you can find the ingredients in any grocery store…trust me, if I can find them here, I know you can and they have a fabulous website that has all sorts of recipes that are easy enough for any novice to make.

One thing I have learned in my Thai cooking experiences of late is that the differences in red and green curry (the only two available in my area) are the types of chili’s used. Red tends to be spicier. Now, I am not a big spicy foods eater and I can still handle the red curry paste…the trick is just to alter the amounts called for in recipes. The first recipe I made I was scared and I didn’t use the amount of red curry paste called for and regretted it. Now, I make it with the full amount required and am very happy with the results. Bric and Erin would love for me to double it and make it spicier. So, it is just a matter of personal taste.

Thai Kitchen is committed to making nothing but the most authentic Thai food. There’s no faking it. They are about providing the best Thai food experience available to anyone, anytime, without compromising quality for convenience. That’s why they use only fresh, natural ingredients selected at harvest for their quality and flavor. With Thai Kitchen, you can say goodbye to Thai food delivery and pricey restaurant meals or expose your family to a different culture and style of food that wouldn’t normally be available to you.

Thai Kitchen provided me with their branded products to help facilitate this review. I was in no other way compensated for this post and all opinions are those of my own and were in no way influenced by any outside source.
