It never fails that when you have a grand scheme plan, something will always happen. Recently I had planned a steak dinner for my family and had invited a friend that is very dear to us. She had been talking of wanting a steak for a few weeks and I wanted to surprise her with the dinner she had been craving. Well wouldn’t you know it, the grill tore up! What to do??? Ohhh, I know…I will cook them indoors. See I have several friends who are Chefs…and when we all get together food is the main topic. How to cook a great steak is always a HUGE debate. Some like them grilled, some like them seared. So, today we are going to sear…because we certainly can’t grill. Please don’t tell, but I like them both ways…I mean heck, it’s STEAK! I just don’t think you can go very wrong as long as you know what you are doing either way you decide to cook them.

Oil your steak

First off, you need to prepare your meat. Start by brushing both side of the steak with a good Olive Oil.

Then you want to season both sides with some salt, pepper and seasonings. I say use whatever you like. My personal favorite is Grill Mates Montreal Steak Seasoning. It had a great flavor and all the spices that I like on a steak.

Now, here is where it gets interesting. You are going to want to use a cast iron skillet that is very hot. I always turn my stove eye on high and let the pan pre-heat for a few minutes. Be warned…It’s going to get smokey!! But gonna be WELL worth it!

Cook on each side for 2-3 minutes each. Once both sides are browned you will Place a pat of butter on each steak, remove the pan from the stove eye and place it in the oven on 400 degrees. How long you leave the steaks in the oven will depend on how well done you like yours and how thick the steaks are. I usually go for around 10 minutes and have a nice medium well steak.

Ohhh Heavens to Betsy!!!

Yummy!!!

The other day I was on the phone with my friend Beth. Her daughter took the phone away from her and was telling me about this wonderful treat that they had made. She said I just had to try it…she was right. OhMyStinkinHeck are these suckers ever good! These are better than passing GO while playing Monopoly with no exit signs.

These are the pictures that Stephanie took along with her version of the recipe:

banana boats

Banana Boats

1 bunch of Bananas
1 bag of mini marshmallows
Hershey’s Chocolate Syrup
Aluminum Foil

Leave the peel on the bananas. Cut a small slit in the center of them (Do not go all the way through the banana). Stuff them with the mini marshmallows. Next wrap the bananas in aluminum foil. Place them on a fire (or grill) for 2-5 minutes, depending on how hot the fire is. Take the bananas off the fire and gently take the peels off the bananas (the bananas will easily break). Drizzle the bananas with chocolate syrup and enjoy! Nanner Boats

Now, aren’t those fabulous? And so easy! I played around with mine a little. I also used caramel syrup and strawberry syrup. All are delicious! There are so many different ways that you could make these. You could stuff the bananas with flavored marshmallows, little pieces of chocolate or caramel candies…the possibilities are just endless.

I absolutely LOVE my George Foreman Healthy Cooking Evolve Grill! I have come to rely on this one appliance more than all others lately. I had one of the first George Foreman grills that came out years ago and while I liked it, I wouldn’t use it much. It was too small to use for my size family and it was a pain to clean. The new grills, WOW. The plates are removable for easy cleaning, the cooking surface is perfect for my family and it cuts cooking times in half saving me TONS of  time and with all of the different plates available it is so versatile. You can even throw the plates in the dishwasher! Yep, this is my kind of grill.

One of my families favorite meals is homemade hamburgers. I concocted a recipe several months back and it has turned into one of the most requested meals that I make.

Before I tell you any more about the burgers, let me explain something. There are no measurements. It is just a mixture, meant to be adjusted to your liking. Now, let’s get ready to grill…

making burgers 1

You will need some ground beef. I use ground chuck but you can use whatever you choose. Also, grab some Worchestershire sauce, Country Bobs All-Purpose Sauce, and Steak Seasoning.

making burgers 2

Simply add as much or as little of all the ingredients as you want. My guess would be that for 2 pounds of ground beef I use 2-3 Tablespoons of steak Seasoning and a 1/4 cup of Worchestershire sauce and 1/2 cup of Country Bobs sauce.

Once you have added the amount that suits your fancy just mix it all togehter .

Make out your patties and have your grill heating up.

Then, all that is left to do is to grab your favorite topping and eat.

One of my favorite toppings happens to be Borden Bacon Cheddar Sliced cheese. They also have Pepperjack and Hickory Smoked Swiss. Then I add a little more Country Bobs sauce and some sauteed mushrooms. Talk about a divine burger…Mmmm!!

There you have it…one of my most requested recipes. Once people have tasted my burgers I always get comments about how moist they are. How great they taste and everyone always wants to know what I put in them.
