I remember hiding under the covers with a flashlight late at night reading Nancy Drew books as a young girl. I always loved the adventures, the intrigue and the excitement that Nancy provided. I always felt like she was a good friend of mine even if she was only a character in a book.

Children everywhere are continuing to form friendships with Nancy Drew today through the ever popular Nancy Drew PC games from HerInteractive…and I continue to love her as much today as I did when I was a young girl. However, the games are not only great for young girls, they are great for women of all ages and don’t tell, but my son even loves to play.

Nancy_Drew_Trail_Of_The_Twister

In Nancy Drew: Trail of the Twister, Nancy Drew goes undercover as a competitive storm chaser in this new mystery, set in Oklahoma during the tornado season. Teams are competing for a $100,000,000 prize for discovering a prediction formula for tornadoes, but something is not quite right… To solve the mystery of who is sabotaging the storm chasing team, Nancy is thrust into a world of wild weather, high technology, secret conversations, mysterious dealings, and ulterior motives…

Key Features:

*Play as Nancy Drew and go undercover as a storm chaser.

*Immerse yourself in meteorology by studying clouds, reading Doppler data, and surviving tornadoes.

*Collect pennies by playing arcade games to purchase candy from the store.

*Choose from Junior or Senior Detective difficulty levels

In Trail of the Twister, the 22nd game in the Nancy Drew series,  you will weather more than just the weather. Wrecked cars, broken legs, faulty equipment. These game are rated for ages 10 and up but even my friends 7 year old loves them and begs to play every time she is over. I also know a 40 year old (ahem) that loves to play them. Fun, excitement and adventure. That is what you will find in Nancy Drew’s Trail of the Twister!

Secrets Can kill

In the first game in the series, Secrets Can Kill, you will work to expose the deception that a death should have silenced.  Jake Rogers is murdered and his killer is on the loose. A secret died with him and it is your job to read between the lines and expose the culprit.

As a tribute to Nancy Drew’s 80th Anniversary, HerInteractive remastered the game that launched the award-winning adventure series. With completely redesigned characters, updated graphics, new puzzles and a new ending, this special edition of Secrets Can Kill will appeal to old and new fans alike.

Key Features:

*New ending

*New challenging puzzles

*Updated graphics

*Single installation – no switching between discs necessary

For great clean, fun entertainment I highly recommend the Nancy Drew games. We have all enjoyed them regardless of our game playing abilities and age.

rii weights

If you and your kids play Wii games, you should really, really check into a set of Riiflex weights to go with your controllers. 2 pounds. Yep, just 2 pounds for each hand. That doesn’t seem like a lot, but it totally changes your game play while giving your arms a work out like you would never have expected.

Let me tell you, put your Wiimotes in these and start boxing, bowling, baseball or any other game that involves a good bit of movement and you will know, without a shadow of a doubt that you have just gotten a good workout. My arms have been sore for days.

While we do not have a Wii Fit or any of the other workout “games” for the Wii I bet these would really enhance the effects.

Rii for the Wii

I have been using the Riiflex’s everyday for about 2 weeks and I am seeing such a difference in my upper body strength and in the way that I feel. My next step is to get a Wii workout program. Along with the Riiflex I might actually get into shape before I know it…the fun way.

The Riiflex’s are made of high-quality rubber and provide a comfortable grip that doesn’t slip. It is actually more comfortable to hold the remotes when they are inserted into the Riiflex’s than not. Each Riiflex weighs in at 2 pounds making them great for every member of the family.

I had some questions when I first heard about Riiflex. Do I need a special game to go with them? Are they going to be hard to hold because I have small hands? Will the kids be able to use them? Well, through experience…No, you don’t need any special game. You can use them with any game that you have on hand, especially the more active ones, making your Wii workout or game more challenging. I have used the Riiflex with Bowling, baseball, golf, boxing (this one out killed me) to name a few. While I have small hands the Riiflex fit very comfortable in my hands, it was actually a better fit for me than holding just the remote. I think that is due to their ergonomic design. The kids have had no trouble at all using the Riiflex. They are a great weight for anyone.

I think that penguins have to be one of the cutest animals! Their little tuxedos, the way they waddle. They are just cute. And FUNNY. So when I received this movie:

Penguin_square2

I was thrilled! Add to it some penguin launchers and a big bowl of Trix cereal and I was a very, very happy Mama. After we all grabbed a bowl of cereal we all gathered around to watch the movie and then had a game of “Who can launch their penguin the furtherest”. GO ME!!! I won.

SUMMER IS IN SESSION! Along with family vacations and trips to the zoo, General Mills is teaming up with Nickelodeon´s The Penguins of Madagascar to bring the action-packed adventures of summer to your very own breakfast table.

Inside specially marked boxes of General Mills cereals, you´ll “commence operations” with one of five characters from The Penguins of Madagascar; Skipper, Rico, Kowalski, Private or King Julien. Each participating cereal contains one character launcher with mission details outlined on the back of the box including:

Dive In, Soldier – Set an empty plastic cereal bowl on the table and try to pop your launcher into it. Wear a helmet or you´ll be squid bait.

Longest Propulsion Launcher – Challenge your troops to see who can launch their character the furthest. Go long or go back to the zoo.

Target Practice – Create a landing zone with a spoon and try to strategically drop your character into the sweet spot. Hit the target or go back to the drawing board.

Clear the Wall – Do you have enough projectile pop to push your launcher over the top of the box? Proceed launchin´ troops, earn those wings!

Each character is unique and has their own specific role, and together, they´re a team with lots of character. With five character launchers to collect, make a splash this summer and try to successfully complete all of their missions. And let me tell you , these babies will fly. We have had more fun with these guys than you can ever imagine.

If you win the giveaway you´ll receive a Penguins of Madagascar prize pack which includes one box of Trix cereal, a Penguins of Madagascar launcher and the new Penguins of Madagascar movie, The Penguins of Madagascar Operation: DVD Premier thanks to general Mills and Nickelodeon through My Blog Spark.

If you are like me you are constantly on the lookout for fun new games that your whole family will enjoy. We love the classics but sometimes we want something new and fresh from our usual. With the new line of Hasbro card games we can have both! And talk about fun, we have had a blast playing three of the new 2010 games that came out this Spring and are highly anticipating the release of the fourth this Fall. Many nights you will find us involved in a card or board game, it is what we love to do. We don’t really have an official Family Game Night since we actually celebrate it several times a week. However, we did join in the National Family Game Night last year and we plan to join in on the 2010 Family Game night.  The date for 2010 will be Wednesday, September 29 when once again, Hasbro will encourage families across the U.S. to turn off the television and take a break from busy schedules to laugh and bond over classic family board games such as MONOPOLY, SORRY! and THE GAME OF LIFE.

kids playing cards

According to a recent Hasbro survey, 42% of Americans said that they’ve laughed so hard when playing a board game that they’ve snorted! And 25% of Americans have even celebrated a big win with a flashy victory dance. Have you had any laugh out loud moments when playing games? Feel free to post your favorite moments on their Facebook page.

Hasbro has introduced a new line of card games that take a spin on traditional game for the second year in a row. By transforming the board games of SORRY!, YAHTZEE and TRIVIAL PURSUIT into “snackable” play formats and by adding the classic French racecar card game of MILLE BORNES to the line, Hasbro card games provide lasting entertainment whether on the go or for family game night.

The 2010 line-up includes:

REVENGE can accommodate 2-6 players and is rated for ages 6 and up.
