Golly That’s Ugly

Today’s Southernism focuses on Unattractiveness. I have heard many sayings throughout the years but my favorite has to be:

“He’s so ugly, his Mama took him everywhere so she wouldn’t have to kiss him good-bye.”

That folks is pretty daw-gone ugly.

It is FRIDAY!!! We are supposed to go to the circus tonight…however they are also calling for a snow storm. Yeah, a snow storm that looks like it will only hit the deep South. How insanely crazy is that? And they are saying that we may get anywhere from 2-5 inches of snow. That means that there will be no milk or bread left within a thousand mile radius and everything will be shut down for days. We don’t do snow well at all.

I hope that you each have a FABULOUS weekend…mine is going to be busy and exciting. Tell you all about it later!

Wishful Thinking

Todays Southernism is all about wishful thinking. My Dad used to use this one on us constantly and you will hear it often here in the South.

“Wish in one hand, spit in the other, and see which one gets full faster”

Meaning that action will get more results than dreaming.

An example: I wish all day long I could find the perfect weight loss diet that had instant results and was easy. But the reality of it is that until I get off my rump and move more, eat less and live healthier…it just ain’t gonna happen.

So, quit wishing and start spittin…you will get there a whole lot quicker!

Wednesday Wisdoms with Steph!

The Post-It Place is proud to announce that there will be a new segment on Wednesdays. This segment will be brought to you by that adorable niece of mine that I call College Kid. She is hip, she is fashionable, she is fun and she is adorable. I think after you all meet her you will agree and learn to love her as much as I do. So…without further ado…here is Steph with today’s Wednesday Wisdom post:

Soooo….one morning I was eating my cereal and it was pretty average (for all you MLIA fans out there) and for those of you who don’t know what MLIA is, its “My Life Is Average.com” People post random things on there all the time that happen to them. Just average things and usually they are pretty hilarious if I do say so myself. Anyways…eating my cereal. I poured my cereal into the bowl that said my name real cute in the bottom and it has a picture of a clown. Don’t be hatin’. I like that bowl. Got it when I was like 7 but still….it’s a keeper. Anywho… so I’m pouring my cereal. Dooo do do do doooo….. pour the milk….. and BAM! That was one beautiful bowl of cheerios. Then I got to thinking. Hmm…. Milk. I wonder who ever decided “Hey, I wonder who the first person was to look at a cow and say, I think I’ll squeeze those dangly things and drink whatever comes out.” This my friends is a wonderful and disgusting thought to ponder. Sick freaks out there I tell ya. Better watch your back. So then I posted this on my facebook status (because that’s what all the cool kids do and I thought I was pretty clever/funny). My friend brought up the idea of lobster along with this whole milk fiasco. I mean seriously, who saw a lobster and said “you see the huge red cockroach in the ocean? I’m gonna Throw it in hot water and eat its butt”!!! Maybe we should start thinking about these things more often. Anyway, my cereal was delish. I ate it all and drank the milk too (trying not too think too much about the creeper who did this first) which revealed my name and the clown smiling at me again. I guess I made a happy plate like all the cheesy mom’s tell their kids. (…bowl actually in my case. But you get the point). Have a Happy Wednesday and I will catch ya next week. TaTa!

How It’s Made

Have you ever watched that show? It is pretty interesting. They go through the history and how different things are made. Several days ago, I learned how Twins are made and thought I would share it with you. It is actually very simple once you learn the “real” way. Here, let me show you:

Yeah, I got a chuckle out of it too…so, I just had to share.

iCarly

In case you have never seen it, iCarly is a TV series about 3 teenagers who make a web-show. They do it on their own without any adult assistance. They use technology like green screens, video camera, a sound effect machine and computers. There are no rules when it comes to their web-show titled “iCarly”. Every web-show focuses on something new and they try their best to do funny and outrageous things to attract more viewers. Sometimes landing themselves in a mess. iCarly  has grown into TV’s No. 1 series among kids (ages 2 to 11) and tweens (ages 9 to 14), drawing an average 5.6 total million viewers to new episodes. So how did Carly do it? She’s got the Web working with her instead of against her.

By design, “iCarly” is the only kids’ show plugged seamlessly into the online world, a playing field populated by blurbs of random, often outrageous comedy. Series creator Dan Schneider has been savvy enough to plot the “iCarly” Web segments as randomly as any teen would their YouTube channel.

During the show-within-a-show webcasts, which the characters film in Carly’s attic, Carly and her friend Sam (Jennette McCurdy) demonstrate making chicken soup in a toilet. They create trailers spoofing teen movies (you can actually find “Kelly Cooper, Terrible Movie” making the rounds on YouTube). They morph Carly’s head on to a picture of Sam’s rabid cat. They improvise short sketches with names like “The Cowboy With a Mustache and the Idiot Farm Girl Who Thought the Mustache Was a Squirrel.”And, iCarly also has it’s own real website where you can read blogs, see photos, play games, send in your own videos and watch bonus videos that are not on the TV show.

I have to say…We all LOVE iCarly. And have since the first time that we saw it. iCarly is just a great show that is funny, yet wholesome…a great all around show that even as an adult I like, but the kids love…and in this house, that is rare to find.

We have already watched these DVD’s over and over again. Call us addicted, but you can bet that at least once a day iCarly:Season 2, Vol.1 will be on and kids will be laughing. Thanks Nickelodeon for such a great show!

What Rednecks Will Do…

…for a good laugh. It is true what they say, you know it is going to be a good laugh when you hear a redneck say: “Hey ya’ll, watch this”. And seriously, there isn’t much that rednecks won’t do for entertainment, this just goes to prove it.Be sure to pay close attention to it when it first starts, these guys should be on bell tv.

Come on, Let’s Get HAPPY!
