I need a vacation…but not just any vacation. I want to go North. WAY up North. In my mind it is still cool up there so I have decided that is where I want to be. I mean really, if it is early June and it is already 100+ degrees here, how bad is it going to get this year? So, I am thinking about places like Boothbay Harbor.
I see it as cool and breezy. On the water. Relaxing. And NOT hot. I also bet that Boothbay Harbor Maine has some great lobster. Anytime I think of Maine I think lobster. A big ol’ plate of lobster and a side of lemon butter…Mmmm, I could seriously go for that about right now as well.
Now if I could just talk Bric into packing a bag and making reservations at a Boothbay Harbor Inn life would be grand. And my shirt wouldn’t be stuck to me from this sweltering heat. Come late July/August someone just go ahead and shoot me because I think we are in for a rough summer around these parts. Or better yet, someone from Maine could you PLEASE adopt me? Oh wait, how hot does it get up there? Please say around 65-70. I could live with that all year. Maybe I should make me a bio-dome.

A few years ago, we realized it was time for a change. We needed to change to help ourselves, to help others, to help our planet. We watched An Inconvenient Truth, Who Killed the Electric Car, The 11th Hour (someone wrote in a magazine that Leonardo DiCaprio’s film made Al Gore’s film look like Happy Feet – they weren’t kidding) with fervor. We read about the perils many indigenous animals, like the polar bears, were experiencing because of global warming. We learned about the effects of carbon dioxide, pesticides, SLS, parabens, BPA, phthalates, GMOs, non-fair trade, non-fair labor companies, products that were tested on animals and a gaggle of other things that, well… scared our pants off.
Funky Green Machine began as an idea on our lips and grew to what you see today – Uncommon, Cool, green products that make us do backflips and you will too.

We love to grill at any time of the year, especially during the summer. Here in the south it gets really hot and when you turn the oven on…let’s just say your poor air conditioning goes into overtime. Not that it ever really turns off until late September. Over the past week or so we have seen temperatures in the high 90’s with heat indexes up to 110. Add in the humidity…SAUNA CITY!

Now this is a GRILL! One that every Man here in the South would drool over. It cracks me up everytime I see it so I just had to show it to you.
Tonight is Karate, I am hoping Tate is still enthused about going. He usually goes on Mondays and Fridays, but this Friday they were closed for testing. That has given Tate time to reconsider his decision to continue on. That boy is such a hermit. He is going to end up being one of those people all the kids in the neighborhood are scared of with only his desktops for companionship. School didn’t work, traditionally sports didn’t work. It is either Karate or Chess Club. Chess club they don’t even talk to one another, just sit and play chess…I think that would defeat the purpose somewhat.
