Riding The Heat Wave!

January 13th, 2010

Wow, it got above freezing today! Actually it got into the mid to upper 40’s today. It felt like we were at some ritzy Myrtle Beach Hotel laying on the beach! The sun was out, birds were singing, there was even a woodpecker hammering away somewhere in the woods. I never did see him but I could definitely heat him. AND….

…I left my house. I haven’t been off the hill in a week. I have holed up and hibernated through this unusually frigid weather and let everyone else go where ever needed going. Now, if they had said lets go grab some Myrtle Beach Accommodations, I might have left the house but I doubt it because from what I hear it was just as cold there as it was here.

I wonder if it snowed on the beach. Hmmm, I might have to look into that. Snow covered sand. That would be an interesting concept I suppose.

“Hey Suzy, how was your  Myrtle Beach Accommodation? What did you wear while on vacation?”

“Oh, it was beautiful and I wore my snowsuit while on the beach”

Yep, interesting indeed.

I need a vacation!

The Joy

January 13th, 2010

I have a love hate relationship with our DVR. I love being able to record shows and watch them later. I love being able to skip through all the commercials and turning an hour show into a 30 minute show. I love being able to rewind the show to hear what I missed because a kid was screaming “MOM” at the top of their lungs over some travesty that has taken place between siblings. I love that you can now move and take your Direct TV with you where ever you go. Because I am seriously thinking of moving to the southern most tip of Florida. It hasn’t been above freezing here in over a week. Seriously folks…I am usually not one to complain much about the weather, well except when it is 100 degrees with air so humid you can’t think straight. But all of this arctic air is driving me stir crazy. So, as I was catching up on the 500 shows that I have recorded and am WAY behind on I saw the commercial where you can pack up and move Direct TV in Florida or wherever else you want to move to. And it was such a tempting thought.Except I would hate having sand in my every nook and cranny 24/7.  And it is flat. And crowded.

Now, I feel guilty because I have like 500 TV shows recorded. Most of which I think that I really want to watch and then never find the time for. So I look at all these shows and feel guilty that I have given Nelsons a false reading as I dit delete instead of play. Ahhh, the ups and downs of DVR. I love Technology. I love Directv. Because without it, I would have no TV. Remember, I live in the GA Mountains. Where it is freezing…literally. And where I still have snow from almost a week ago. That my friends is unheard of in this neck of the woods!

The Big Snow

January 9th, 2010

First, let me tell you who the winner of the Nestle Giveaway was: #351 Betty Curran! Congrats. Check your e-mail for verification.

We got snow Thursday evening. It was so pretty and it shut our whole county down on Friday. I am still not sure if I will be able to get out of my driveway today or not but Susan is supposed to come over so I will let her be the tester outter. She has a big old 4-wheel drive so if she slides and gets stuck she will have better luck at getting out…and I can take pictures and tell you all about it all the while taunting her on the internet as well as in person. I am such a good friend. SO good that maybe she will want to take me to stay in a Myrtle Beach Hotel. Oh wait, it is cold there now too!

With the snow came some very cold weather. Cold weather that has stayed. Normally, we get MILD cold weather. It will occasionally get below freezing but not often and certainly not for weeks on end. It was 9 degrees on my porch last night. NINE. It isn’t even going to get ABOVE freezing for a few more days…something that we normally don’t go BELOW. I know that this is petty to you people that live up North and are used to the really cold temperatures and the snow but see, there is something that you are missing here. In the South, the stores don’t sell really big, really heavy coats that will keep you warm. Nooo, instead they sell stuff like bikinis. Stuff you would wear when going to an  Oceanfront Myrtle Beach Hotel in the middle of the winter where it would normally still be around 60 degrees…but this isn’t normal!

So, I am dreaming of visiting Oceanfront Myrtle Beach Hotels. I can’t help it. I usually love the cold weather, it is typically a welcome break from the smoltering heat that we face in the summer but this year it has been a little extreme. Ok, not a little…A LOT. I want to feel just a little sunshine on my face and to be able to get up my driveway. Till then, I will share my favorite picture I have taken in the snow:

I have no idea why this is my favorite, but it is. Normally I am not a good photographer at all, but this one I thought turned out perfect and it was all a mistake. Guess that is what makes it so good!

Sorel Boots

December 23rd, 2009

It seems that some parts of the country are already getting pounded with snow and cold weather. Ski season is in full swing and winter play has begun. If there is one thing that I hate about winter fun it is that my feet FREEZE. I can never put on enough socks or warm enough boots. This year, I am armed and ready! My feet will be all warm and cozy no matter how cold it gets. How do you like that Mr. Winter?!

What am I armed with? Ohhh, you are going to be drooling so get ready…

Now these are some boots! I can romp, tromp and play in any weather and not have to worry about my feet being cold. Thank you Sorel! They use high quality materials and the craftsmanship is superb. If you remove the lining they are a little hard to get back in…just because everything fits together so well to provide your feet with the perfect fit.

What they say:

At Sorel, we make footwear that is honest, uncomplicated, and unpretentious. We believe that form follows function, and that the result is often quite beautiful. Since 1962, we’ve put craftsmanship first in the pursuit of making products that last. We believe that when your feet are taken care of, you can be more spontaneous, and that your boots should last as long as the experiences you have in them. We believe in being effortlessly outdoors no matter what the elements.

I love that! And I love their boots. You will have to check out their complete line of styles for women, men and children some rated to -100 degrees below zero for all of your winter footwear needs. Whether you just want to get out and play or live in the harshest of conditions Sorel has you covered!

Sorel provided me with a complimentary pair of boots to facilitate this review. All opinions are those of my own and are in no way influenced by any outside source.

On Being Sick

February 24th, 2009

I am sore from coughing so much. I think I might actually cough up a lung. I really really HATE being sick. I am terrible about taking medicine. That makes it much harder to get well. You should see my little tv stand, it is covered in tissues. My house is a total wreck. I have much better things to do than be sick. It is all this crazy weathers fault. It needs to decide if it is going to be warm or downright freezing. I can handle either. I really can. I won’t even care at this point…just choose one and stick to it for a bit. Not 65 one day and 30 the next. If I live through this…I have an anniversary coming up. My one year blogerversary. Should we celebrate? I will have to think of something special. I will see you tomorrow if my lungs don’t come spewing out over the next few hours. Yeah, nice thought huh…but it is the way I feel. Just wanted to share.
