Luden's Cough Drops

Cold and Flu season has arrived. Every time I turn around I am hearing about someone being sick. My first line of defense is avoidance. I avoid sick people like the plague. There is nothing I try to avoid more…because I HATE being sick. I am a terrible patient and get all whiny and cranky. Just ask anyone who lives with me.

But what happens if you do happen to get sick? Are you prepared?

I try to keep tissues for those runny noses, wipes to clean surfaces that anyone who even sneezes touches and spray to disinfect every space in the house. I also keep plenty of throat lozenges around because there is nothing that drives me crazier than coughing all night and having a sore throat. Luden’s has a great line of throat lozenges available this year and I have a WHOLE stash for the “just in case” scenario.

Surprisingly Soothing. Simply Delicious.™ For over 130 glorious years people have turned to Luden’s® throat drops to soothe sore and irritated throats. And for many people, Luden’s® delicious tasting drops and surprisingly soothing relief have been there from the first time they can remember having a sore throat. Today people young and old still count on the great taste of Luden’s® drops to soothe their everyday throat irritations.

Luden's Orange Throat LozengesLuden’s has expanded their line to include a new orange flavored product made with real orange juice!! It is vitamin enriched with 100% of the recommended daily value of Vitamin C which makes it a perfect way to not only moisturize and sooth your throat, but to  get that important Vitamin C dose in and help you and your family feel better in this germ-filled, schedule packed cold and flu season. Because really, who has time to be bogged down with the sniffles when the whole family is depending on you to get them here, there and everywhere?

What I love the most…they taste great! They are soothing, moisturizing and relieve that annoying scratchy feeling. These are my new favorite of any throat lozenge over any that I have ever tried. I am partial to citrus flavors anyway but these don’t have that horrible mediciny taste that so many do. And that folks means that it will be easier to get your kids to use them. They taste a lot like candy. They are really that good!

In addition to the new orange drops, the line also includes a variety of great-tasting throat drops such as Wild Cherry, Sugar-Free Wild Cherry, Wild Honey and more. Luden’s® Throat Drops are available in 14-count packs with a suggested retail price of $.99 and bags of individually wrapped drops for $1.79.

Puffs

Cold Season. Flu Season. Allergy Season. They all wreak havoc on our noses.

Now with Puffs we have choices to help us make it through the seasons of sniffles. My favorites are Puffs Plus Lotion with Vicks for noses that are stopped up and Puffs Plus Lotion for noses that have been blowed one to many times. They are so soft on your nose. No chapped edges…no raw nose, just comfort from a box.

Puffs with Vicks

Puffs Plus Lotion with Vicks helps open up nasal passages with a soft hint of Vicks vapor rub. Perfect for the days coming of high-pollen counts and spring/summer colds.

As warmer weather will soon be here, Dr. Tanya Altmann, a pediatrician consultant for Puffs, has tips on how to prevent allergens from attacking.  Those tips include:
· Minimize early outdoor playtime when pollen counts are highest and don’t play in freshly cut grass
· Keep your car and home windows closed and teach kids to wash their hands and faces after playing outside
· Teach your kids to blow their noses properly with Puffs Plus Lotion tissues since itchy, runny and stuffy noses are symptoms of allergies (tell them to blow as if they were blowing out a candle through their nose with their mouths closed…this visual definitely helps kids remember to blow gently which is key to the action)

You can find out more about Puffs Plus on their website or on Facebook.

Next time you are out and about pick up a box of Puffs and get prepared. My Bradford Pears and Peach trees are already in bloom and I am already seeing traces of pollen on the cars. Waiting on the sneezes and stuffy noses to begin.

“Puffs supplied me with some information and samples of Puffs Plus Lotion and Puffs Plus Lotion with Vicks to help facilitate this post. I was in no other way compensated and all opinions stated are 100% my own. My nose is especially grateful to Puffs. As is Erin’s nose. And Tate’s nose. And Bric’s nose. Ok, we all really love Puff’s and the comfort they have brought to us during a time of sniffles, sneezes and un-welcomed breezes.  Yep, we have all been suffering from little colds or allergies or something or other due to all of this crazy weather we are having here in the South.”

Wow, it got above freezing today! Actually it got into the mid to upper 40′s today. It felt like we were at some ritzy Myrtle Beach Hotel laying on the beach! The sun was out, birds were singing, there was even a woodpecker hammering away somewhere in the woods. I never did see him but I could definitely heat him. AND….

…I left my house. I haven’t been off the hill in a week. I have holed up and hibernated through this unusually frigid weather and let everyone else go where ever needed going. Now, if they had said lets go grab some Myrtle Beach Accommodations, I might have left the house but I doubt it because from what I hear it was just as cold there as it was here.

I wonder if it snowed on the beach. Hmmm, I might have to look into that. Snow covered sand. That would be an interesting concept I suppose.

“Hey Suzy, how was your  Myrtle Beach Accommodation? What did you wear while on vacation?”

“Oh, it was beautiful and I wore my snowsuit while on the beach”

Yep, interesting indeed.

I need a vacation!

First, let me tell you who the winner of the Nestle Giveaway was: #351 Betty Curran! Congrats. Check your e-mail for verification.

We got snow Thursday evening. It was so pretty and it shut our whole county down on Friday. I am still not sure if I will be able to get out of my driveway today or not but Susan is supposed to come over so I will let her be the tester outter. She has a big old 4-wheel drive so if she slides and gets stuck she will have better luck at getting out…and I can take pictures and tell you all about it all the while taunting her on the internet as well as in person. I am such a good friend. SO good that maybe she will want to take me to stay in a Myrtle Beach Hotel. Oh wait, it is cold there now too!

With the snow came some very cold weather. Cold weather that has stayed. Normally, we get MILD cold weather. It will occasionally get below freezing but not often and certainly not for weeks on end. It was 9 degrees on my porch last night. NINE. It isn’t even going to get ABOVE freezing for a few more days…something that we normally don’t go BELOW. I know that this is petty to you people that live up North and are used to the really cold temperatures and the snow but see, there is something that you are missing here. In the South, the stores don’t sell really big, really heavy coats that will keep you warm. Nooo, instead they sell stuff like bikinis. Stuff you would wear when going to an  Oceanfront Myrtle Beach Hotel in the middle of the winter where it would normally still be around 60 degrees…but this isn’t normal!

So, I am dreaming of visiting Oceanfront Myrtle Beach Hotels. I can’t help it. I usually love the cold weather, it is typically a welcome break from the smoltering heat that we face in the summer but this year it has been a little extreme. Ok, not a little…A LOT. I want to feel just a little sunshine on my face and to be able to get up my driveway. Till then, I will share my favorite picture I have taken in the snow:

I have no idea why this is my favorite, but it is. Normally I am not a good photographer at all, but this one I thought turned out perfect and it was all a mistake. Guess that is what makes it so good!
