Behind the grass you will see one of the most precious little boys I have ever met in my life. Like his parents he is a beautiful person inside and out. I could just hug and love on him till the cows come home. And since I don’t have cows, that might be a really long time.

He LOVED the chickens. And between my nieces and Tate, he learned a lot about chickens while they were visiting. It’s a good thing though, cause when they left my house, they were on their way to pick up 12 for themselves. They own a horse farm, so the chickens will be a nice addition to their lives. Too bad they wouldn’t take the guinea pigs with them. But I guess I can understand, seeing how he is going to be a big brother really soon.

Awww, I agree buddy, it is always sad to have to go.

I could easily fill up a 10 gig sd card of this little guy.

Today has been a steady day of catching up on a few projects that have been sitting and waiting on someone to come along and wrap things up. We got the garden planted. It isn’t a big garden, but it will yield us some squash, peppers, tomatoes, watermelons, etc. We got all the residue from Tate’s bomb making experiments cleaned up. Chemistry is hard work let me tell you, but it sure is fun. And….

We let the chickens out for awhile to roam free.

They had themselves a big ol time. Grass must be like a Slimquick Cleanse to them because every time we let them out to roam, we get twice as many eggs as usual. Today, we got 9.

We also got our plastic crap bowl cabinet cleaned out. That cabinet is a horrible mess…ALWAYS. I keep saying I am going to buy one of those sets that has a spinner/holder thingymabob with it, but I always forget. So, mine are still piled and cluttered and fall out every time you open the cabinet. Now, it is just an organized mess, till somebody opens the cabinet and just starts throwing them in again, which I imagine to be tomorrow.

Tomorrow, we will all be getting together to eat. It started out as just a let’s get together thing. But it will really be to celebrate one of my niece’s birthday since it is on Saturday…any excuse to eat cake!

Yes, this is a long overdue post about the Hick Town Hens. They have been very busy. They haven’t had time to mess with me. They also have demanded bathroom vanities so I can wash my hands and not spread my crud to them. They are scared of the Avian Flu or whatever it is called. I told them I doubt that they would catch something like that, seeing as how they live in Hick Town, not Asia.

They are providing 4, sometimes 5 eggs per day now. And are demanding a raise. Hmmppphh! They think they are hot stuff…and while for the most part I tend to agree, I do believe they have quite the attitudes. Sometimes those attitudes need a little adjusting. So, I made a bargain with them. Fresh hay and more camera time. Seeing how they are Hollywood wanna be’s, they fell for it.

Ya think Hollywood has a calling for 5 hot southern chicks?

I have had a couple of inquiries about the chicks. I had to let their blog go because I just couldn’t keep it up…reasons to follow. I was going to see if someone wanted to take it over, but ultimately I decided it would be best to just let it go. The chicks will be featured here occasionally and you will still here from them.

Now, some of the reasons…Smartypants has been expelled from school. I had not decided whether I would discuss this here, but what the heck, we are all friends. We have been trying to make a difficult decision about whether we should home school him or send him back once his time is up. I think part of that decision will be made when he goes to court. Yes, he is only 11 years old. Yes, he has to go to court. He is by no means an angel of a child, trust me on this, but he also isn’t a BAD kid (most of the time). He got up one morning, grabbed a pair of jeans out of his drawer and got ready for school. Once at school he put his hand in his pocket and he had a pocket knife in the pocket that had been washed and dried with the pants. He didn’t know it was there. He pulled the knife out and looked at it and then put it back in his pocket. There was no threat to anyone involved but he still faces a weapons at school charge. If you are caught with a knife over 2″ they call the police, suspend you, and you have to go to court. His was 2 and 1/4. We have yet to be given a court date, it is a wait and see thing at this moment. I am not by any means condoning anyone taking a knife to school, but it was an accident on his part. I am also in no way condemning the school for what they felt was neccessary. I am just not sure if it will be the right thing for him to go back at this time. This will be something that will go in his school record and it will follow him throughout his school days.

So, as you can probably tell, we have had a few things going on around here and I just had to decide what to let go. The poor Hick Town Hens got the ax…not literaly, just figuratively…they are all still a clucking. I promise and will prove it soon.
