One of my families favorite meals is homemade hamburgers. I concocted a recipe several months back and it has turned into one of the most requested meals that I make.

Before I tell you any more about the burgers, let me explain something. There are no measurements. It is just a mixture, meant to be adjusted to your liking. Now, let’s get ready to grill…

making burgers 1

You will need some ground beef. I use ground chuck but you can use whatever you choose. Also, grab some Worchestershire sauce, Country Bobs All-Purpose Sauce, and Steak Seasoning.

making burgers 2

Simply add as much or as little of all the ingredients as you want. My guess would be that for 2 pounds of ground beef I use 2-3 Tablespoons of steak Seasoning and a 1/4 cup of Worchestershire sauce and 1/2 cup of Country Bobs sauce.

Once you have added the amount that suits your fancy just mix it all togehter .

making burgers 4

Make out your patties and have your grill heating up.

Then, all that is left to do is to grab your favorite topping and eat.

making burgers 6

One of my favorite toppings happens to be Borden Bacon Cheddar Sliced cheese. They also have Pepperjack and Hickory Smoked Swiss. Then I add a little more Country Bobs sauce and some sauteed mushrooms. Talk about a divine burger…Mmmm!!

There you have it…one of my most requested recipes. Once people have tasted my burgers I always get comments about how moist they are. How great they taste and everyone always wants to know what I put in them.

This weekend being the 4th of July many of us plan to gather with family and friends to celebrate. Me, I plan to go to a small town even further into the mountains called Hiawassee to my Aunt and Uncle’s place where everyone will gather to enjoy some good food, good music and good company.

The best part of going…I get to see my Aunt Ruth. She is such a lively and fun person to be around. And, it doesn’t hurt that she happens to be the best cook that I know. So, I thought I would share one of her recipes in honor of the upcoming holiday so that if you have plans to attend a cookout and need a fabulous covered dish to take…you would have something to knock peoples socks off!

Aunt Ruth’s Barbecue Baked Beans

1 gallon baked beans

1 cup brown sugar

1 1/2 cups barbecue sauce

1 TBSP mustard

4 TBSP vinegar

1/2 cup chopped onions

dash of garlic powder

1/4 tsp of hot sauce (adjust to taste)

1 small hot pepper

Mix all of the ingredients in a large baking dish and bake at 325 degrees for one hour. Serve hot.

Remember, this is meant to feed a crowd. I am not sure that Ruth knows how to cook in small quantities because even if you just drop by her house on a Tuesday for no reason unannounced, there is a crowd around her table…and that is just how she likes it.

Tomorrow Tate is competing in a karate tournament. We spent this evening at the studio so he could get in some last minute fighting and form practice. While he has competed in a previous tournament, this will be the first that he has fought at. Forms are easy. You do the same moves over and over again. While there is always room for improving little bits here and there, it is basically the same every time. Fighting…you just never know.

While on the way home tonight from the studio Tate asked me how proud I would be if he won first place. I told him I would be very, very proud…so proud that it would take the best anti wrinkle cream in the world to remove the wrinkles from smiling so much. But then I asked him how proud he thought I would be if he won second. He knew the answer without even having to think about it. It was the same answer for first as it was for second or third place and the same answer if he doesn’t place at all.

Tate just smiled and said…Yeah, that what being a Mom is about isn’t it.

Yes Tate, that is what being a Mom is all about!

Do you have a Mom Moment? You know, one of those times when you realize just how much you love being a Mom, no matter how embarrassing or frustrating or funny or sweet that moment is.

Mom’s Best Naturals is sponsoring a Mother’s Day Contest with the opportunity to win $500, a Flip Cam, and a year’s supply of Mom’s Best Naturals cereal. They know how hard every mom works to be the best for her family, and this year, Mom’s Best wants to help moms take care of themselves for a change — with $500 and a Flip Cam!
They’re looking for your favorite “Mommy Moments” — times when something wacky, sweet, embarrassing, or funny happened that made you realize how much you really love being a mom. For example, has your child ever:
Repeated something embarrassing in public?
Said something with utter seriousness that is wise beyond their years?
Gotten into something they shouldn’t have and made a complete mess?
Done something incredibly sweet that made your heart melt?
For Mother’s Day, one lucky mom will be randomly chosen to receive $500 to use as she chooses, plus a Flip Cam and a year’s supply of Mom’s Best Naturals cereal and an eco-friendly shopping tote. Three additional moms will win a year’s supply of cereal and an eco-friendly tote.
To enter, just visit www.momsbestnaturals.com and tell them your favorite “Mommy Moment” in 250 words or less before May 2, 2010.
