Tate and I decided at the very last minute to take off on a road trip to Alabama to visit with some friends and just hang out this weekend.

While out loafing around town, we ended up in an Antique mall located in Madison AL. Now, here is the interesting part…

pay to potty

Yep, they make you PAY to use their restroom. Pay to Potty.

Seriously…I know that I am not a world traveler by any means…but paying to potty…that takes the cake!

Today instead of a Feature You Friday person…I want to tell you about a FYF THING.

Do you know what Wooden Trenchers are?

Yeah, not many people do. Or they call them something different. But, they are oblong wooden bowls, typically made to make dough in I think. Mine, it sits on my counter and holds fruit, veggies and junk. It has been there for what seems like a long time now and is one of my very favorite items I own. It has been in my family for many many years…and now holds it’s place in my very own kitchen. It has distinction and character. And bumps, and bruises, and scars and divots.

This one is mine. See, it holds stuff. And when company is here, it usually has a pretty towel with bread or chips or something in it. Has many functions. I have never made dough in mine though. Of course I am not a baker. I just like to cook. So, I am not one to make homemade breads and stuff.

Now, I have been looking at trenchers to buy for quite some time…the problem is that they are very expensive. Usually around $200-300 each.

They come in all different sizes and shapes and colors. The bigger, the more expensive. I have looked for woodworkers that still make them, but haven’t really found one yet. So, I searched and I searched and I searched. The one day…one very blessed day….

I found this one. And I was in LOVE! but I knew it wouldn’t make its new home in my life. I think maybe it will make its way to someone elses home. Perhaps yours. So you can have a really cool fruit and junk holder on your island like me.
