Ben KaChoo is a Hippo who has a problem. He has allergies. It seems that he is allergic to almost everything in the air.

And that makes him sneeze….a LOT.

The thing about a hippo who sneezes, is it is a BIG sneeze since hippos are so large. So big in fact that it can rocket him across the swamp.

There are many days that I know just how Ben KaChoo feels. Several of us here at the Post-It Place suffer from allergies but Ben shows us just how it can in fact come in handy as we read the story to see where Ben’s sneezes take him. A sweet, well-illustrated story about a hippo, his allergies and how to turn something frustrating into something good.

Toy/Book Specifics…

The 10-inch hippo plush toy offers six different ‘sneezes’, along with an “whoa”, and “excuse me” with a squeeze of his tail! Clearly not your average hippo, or even your average sneezer! Add on the 32-page brightly illustrated picture book (with a page of stickers) where after accidentally sneeze-jetting into a crocodile named Arrow, the two start an unexpected friendship. How will this change the swamp? Toy and book are purchased separately.

Available through Fierce Fun Toys, LLC – Toys with a Tale and some retailers (list available on their site) across the nation.   Their products have won awards from The Toy Man Guide and Dad Recommends.
This fall, not only are they launching Ben KaChoo but you will be able to get Harry Hiccers – a koala with the hiccups – a story of relocation, exploration and making friends as well. The first in the series is Norman PhartEphant® , a young African elephant adopted by a U.S. zoo and the change in diet does not sit well. He becomes a very gassy pachyderm.

Lovable animals facing everyday issues, that is what it’s about. Teaching children about everyday things and helping them to become more understanding through toys and books that will be treasured for years to come. Ben became a fast favorite around here and makes an appearance for every guest that comes through our door. And he sneezes right along with the rest of us, making him a great addition to our family.

Fierce Fun Toys, LLC would like to give you the chance to win Ben KaChoo along with his book.

Well, this is the time of year that pollen particles fill the air with all of that lovely yellow/green stuff…You know the stuff that changes the color of your car. Coats your deck. Sticks to your windows.  Makes you sneeze. Makes it harder to breath. Tickles our noses. For people who suffer from allergies, spring is a time of itchy eyes and sneezes and misery.

While the tendency may be to head indoors for relief, United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) studies indicate that indoor levels of many pollutants may be two to five times higher than outdoor levels, making it one of the top five urgent environmental risks to public health. In fact, many seasonal activities such as cooking, spring cleaning and redecorating can spread indoor pollutants. Did you know:

· Poor indoor air quality can cause a lack of concentration in school-aged children (Journal of Indoor Air)

· Every year, asthma accounts for an estimated three million lost work days for adults and over ten million lost school days for children (American Lung Association’s Trends in Asthma Morbidity and Mortality)

Dr. Neil Schachter, M.D., past president of the American Lung Association of the City of New York, suggests a “home health check-up” to help make your home a healthier place to live. He recommends avoiding cleaning products that contain ammonia or chlorine, and limiting your pet’s access to certain areas of the home, including the bedroom. A high performance air filter, such as a Filtrete filter, may also help improve indoor air quality. Listen to these tips and more on Dr. Schachter’s podcast on www.Filtrete.com. While you’re there, play the Filtrete Clean Air Fact or Fiction to test your knowledge of indoor air quality. You could win a home inspection from Steve Ramos, featured home inspector on HGTV’s House Detective.

It’s recommended to change your air filter at the start of every season, or every three months. Recognizing that this may be the last thing on the mind of a busy Mom, 3M, the makers of Filtrete filters, offers the Clean Air Club. Moms can receive seasonal e-newsletters featuring special offers, filter change reminders, better home living tips and more. Plus, the first 50 people to sign up each week will receive a free bamboo plant – a natural air purifier.

Filtrete High Performance 1″ filters capture at least 90% of large airborne particles from the air passing through the filter. They outperform all non-electrostatic filters including three-month pleated, washable and fiberglass 1″ filters.

Filtrete high performance filters carry a microparticle rating of 1200 or higher and capture small and large particles including smoke, smog and particles that carry viruses. They also meet the American Lung Association® indoor air quality guidelines.

Filtrete High Performance Filters include:

* Filtrete Maximum Allergen Reduction Filter
* Filtrete Ultimate Allergen Reduction Filter
* Filtrete Advanced Allergen Reduction Filter
* Filtrete Ultra Allergen Reduction Filter
* Filtrete Ultra Pure Filter
* Filtrete Allergen Reduction Filter

What are you still doing here? Go change your filter to a Filtrete Filter, go read up on how to help clean the air in your home. Make your home an easier place to breathe this season! Go sign up for the Clean Air Club as we embark on this allergy season.
