Publix Breakfast Savings graphic

Breakfast around here is the craziest time of the day. Everyone gets up and leaves at a different times. Starting with Matt leaving at 6, then Bric at 7, Tate might show his face around 9 and Erin usually doesn’t emerge until noon. See, I am telling you, we are all on very different schedules. Me, I am usually the last to be and the first to rise. I just don’t sleep much. I think it all stems from working on the ambulance years ago and going for days without much sleep. So, I still don’t sleep much, but I am getting better about it. With that being said, it is impossible to fix a breakfast everyone can enjoy.

So, after watching loads of time and money go down the drain due to everyone going a different direction and just grabbing something on the road, it was time to re-think our breakfast routine. We took the challenge and discovered how much time and money we could save each week by shopping and eating breakfast at home. You should too. We were SHOCKED. For the price that we ate breakfast out ONE day, we could all eat at home for about 2 weeks. Even with everyone liking a different cereal or breakfast food!!

This is the season…what’s it the season for? Well, for us it is to be thankful for what we have and to help others in any way that we can. We have chosen 2 families to help this Christmas. We will be helping with food, basic necessities and toys for the kids. It isn’t that we have an over-abundance, it is that it has gripped my heart to help out these families because their circumstances are much more dire than ours are…and it could easily be us in that position. We have been there in the past and could be there again someday. So I know what it is to be appreciative of the most basic items like toothpaste, not luxuries like indoor tanning lotions, and I just can’t stand by and do nothing.

My point is this, while you may not be able to do a lot for someone else it only takes a little to make someones day. This Christmas I am challenging each of you to do just a little something for someone that you know is in need. One of my favorite things to do is to go to the Dollar Store and buy a bunch of gloves. They cost $1 each, that isn’t a lot but they mean the world to that cold person that I handed them to. I also like to keep little coupon books from McDonalds or somewhere in the car. They too cost $1 but mean a meal for someone who may otherwise go hungry.

So, it doesn’t have to be alot. It doesn’t have to be earth-shattering. But I am challenging you to do something and I would love it if you would leave me a comment telling me if you accepted this challenge and what you did. And on December 25th I will choose one commentor at randon to win a $25 Amazon Gift Certificate to treat themselves as a job well done.

I hope everyone has on their calendar to watch  ”A Walk In My Shoes” which will be airing on December 3rd at 8/7C on NBC. It will be well worth your time!! We already have the popcorn ready for popping.

I think we have all been guilty of judging people based by only what our perception is. And our perception can sometimes be very far off. What if we just spent a few moments in their shoes? I think our judgements would quickly change.

While I was in Toronto I got the priveledge of  previewing the movie called “A Walk In My Shoes” which will be airing on December 3rd at 8/7C on NBC. Oh My, what a fabulous movie. This is the third movie that Proctor & Gamble and Walmart have teemed up on in order to provide more family friendly entertainment…something that was long overdue and that I am very thankful for.

“A Walk in My Shoes” makes viewers stop and think, “What would I learn if I stepped into someone else’s life?” Stressed-out high school teacher Trish Fahey (Nancy Travis, “Three Men and a Baby,” “Becker”) can’t understand her students’ lack of effort in the classroom and why their parents don’t seem to care. This is especially true of Justin Kremer (Cameron Deane Stewart), a popular, skateboard-loving, basketball star who is underperforming in her class. Trish has him suspended from the basketball team and quickly chalks up the situation as a case of bad parenting.

This perspective dramatically changes when Trish meets Molly (Yara Martinez), a mysterious stranger intent on helping her see things differently. After a car accident, Trish wakes to find herself living the life of Cindy Kremer (Jana Lee Hamblin), the woman she has rashly judged and criticized. Molly helps Trish discover that there is more to the story and learns a powerful lesson that affects everyone she interacts with, including her husband, daughter and the Marine next door. No one is left unchanged.

You should be seeing some of the commercials for “A Walk In My Shoes” on NBC. Make sure to put it on your calendar, this is a movie that you will want to watch with your whole family!

I absolutely love cooking during Christmas more than any other time of the year. There is nothing better for me than placing tray after tray of homemade goodies on the table and making up goody baskets for all my friends and family. Some of the favorites around here include Fudge made with Nestle Toll House Morsels. Potato Candy, Orange Balls, Oreo Balls, Cookies, etc. etc. etc. I could make a list a mile lomg of all the goodies that we love to make and eat. But, I need to get on to the good stuff.
