Terrible News

February 24th, 2010

Well folks, there has been a tragedy! I hate to bring you this news. It is so hard to talk about it without falling to pieces. It has to do with these…

And this….

misc-002

It is horrible. You can’t see it from this angle, but the back of the store is burnt. The inside is a mess.

I haven’t heard how the fire started yet, the cause still has to be determined. And they are not sure if they will rebuild/remodel or whatever. All that I found left when I drove through the parking lot was a box cutter. The inside is all black and gross. Not bright and full of life.

THAT my friends means that the closest store to me is not OPEN!!

That means I have to drive all the way to town if I want to buy stuff.

It is a terrible, terrible thing!

I am saddened and in despair.

If you don’t see me for a few days, I am in mourning over our loss. I know that we only had DG with us for about 2 years but the grief cuts deep.

Ok, so yes, I can go into town and visit one of the other 7 or 8 located in our county, but I liked this one goshdarnit!

Busy as A Beaver in the middle of a Lumber Yard

Things are so crazy, and chaotic…and GREAT!

Yep, I know that sounds crazy, but I am loving every minute of it. I have several different projects going on and they are all so exciting that I am busting at the seems to tell you…but I can’t just yet. Soon, very soon…but not just yet.  So sorry, I hate when people give me a teaser like that, but I can’t help it. I am seriously about to bust.

I am horrible at keeping surprises a surprise but I haven’t had much choice…and I have done it (so far).

This week has been so insanely crazy for me that I feel like I could go out and get a used rv for sale and go on vacation for 6 months but it has also been one of the best weeks I have had in a really long time on so many different levels.

I hope that each of you have had a great week and are looking forward to an even better one coming up.

Yep, I am truly blessed!

The Trip To Asheville

September 25th, 2009

Driving through the mountains is such a beautiful drive. Mountains and Scenery galore. As far as the eye can see.

The leaves are beginning to change a little. The air is getting a little crisper. All signs that fall is here. I love fall. It is my favorite season. Driving through the mountains during fall is just icing on the cake.

Getting to drive through the maountains with the river running along side the road is pure heaven. It is a bliss that can’t be beat…even by my own fried chicken…which is really good.

And while I am thrilled to be going to Asheville to attend the Type A Mom Conference thanks to Relish, Wooden Toddler Toys, Kinesys, Habitwise, and Intromark, I would also love be doing this:

Bet this is the hurrah of the summer. There were tons of kayaks on the river. It was a beautiful site.

Miss You! Wish You Were Here!

Ahhh, Relief

September 23rd, 2009

Yesterday we had a little reprieve from all of the rain that we have been having. It was so nice to see the sun shine, even if it isn’t to last. We are scheduled for more rain…and then even more rain. Thank goodness that we are not effected by the flooding, but I know many people that are, either directly or indirectly. How can you be indirectly effected? Well, when it floods water sources are contaminated, there are power outages, etc. So while I have some family and friends whose houses are flooded, I have others who have no water and power. Directly, Indirectly. Cause, Effect. If the rain keeps up like they say…we are all going to be so shriveled up and wrinkly that even the top wrinkle creams on the market won’t help.

flood

And what about HickTown? Well, the main little shopping center always floods, even when it just rains a regular rain. There were some trees downed in places and a few roads closed here and there, but we were not effected as bad as a lot of surrounding areas…that is one benefit to living in the foothills of the mountains.

I am packing and getting ready to go tomorrow to the Type A Mom conference in Asheville NC. Asheville is a beautiful place and worth a visit. One of the big draws to Asheville is The Biltmore House and surrounding estate.

fall

Thanks to my sponsors: Wooden Toddler Toys, Relish, Kinesys , Habitwise and Intromark I expect to have a wonderful time and will tell you all about it upon my return.

Till then, I hope you all stay dry and have a wonderful weekend while I am out playing in the mountains.

Fair-ly Rainy

September 20th, 2009

On Wed we went to the fair in the town South of us. We went with the local homeschool group which includes my sister. Now, here is the South there is a saying…if you don’t like the weather, just wait 10 minutes and it will change for you. Generally, that is the truth. But lately…all it has done is rain. For over a week now, and scheduled to rain through next week. Now, lots of rain…in a muggy humid southern corner of the world may not mean much to most people but it is driving me FLIPPIN crazy! I am SOOOO very tired of all the rain. And those of you that have been with me for awhile know what this does to my poor dog. For those of you not here very long I have this dog named Roxie, she weighs about 100 pounds and is terrified of rain. She won’t eat or drink, refuses to take one step outside and will hold it for DAYS just to keep from getting her paws wet. She has some issues. She really can’t help it, there was once a man in her life that apparently beat her senseless and since she no longer has any sense she doesn’t know that rain won’t hurt her. But other than that and her toenail biting issues she really is the greatest dog ever. Or maybe I just feel that way because she is utterly devoted to me and loves me unconditionally. Anyway, back to the fair…

We had a great time, despite the drizzly rain. We were just thankful that it didn’t pour on us. Although there was that concern that we would get stuck in the muddy, mushy parking lot. Tate got to ride anything and everything, some several times. This ride…was a big hit with all of the kids:

We visited my niece’s chickens who were entered in the Poultry judging contest…and WON! They really do have some beautiful hens. The girls also entered their artwork and and won several ribbons. They were very proud and had every right to be!

img_1107

Tate and his cousin getting ready to spin every which way but loose…I wouldn’t need a diet pill that works if I rode this. I would be barfing up my breakfast. I just don’t have it in me like I used to. When I was younger, I could take on all the wild rides, but alas…I grew up I think. It happened when I least expected it. One day I was a girl, the next an adult. Ahhh, to be a kid again.

The site also has a bunch of online offers (because Moms love coupons!) and it’s also where you can enter your kids in the “Be a Schoolebrity” sweepstakes! Grillin and Chillin

July 27th, 2009

I am exhausted! We spent the weekend out and about playing. We went over to the town of Summerville/Trion to my cousins house on Saturday to spend the WHOLE day swimming and cooking and eating. When I say that the grill was going ALL day, I am not exaggerating. We grilled marinated ribs, rubbed ribs, BBQ ribs, marinated chicken, chicken wings and we grilled all the vegetables. I say we pretty loosely here. Mr. Mike did most of the grillin and I did most of the preparing.

We dragged my niece “College Kid” along with us and celebrated her birthday while we were there. I can’t believe that she is 19. It seems just yesterday that she was born.

Bric even got to go which is a real rarity. He is always on call and rarely gets to go with us when we decide on having a fun day. It was so nice to spend the day just hanging out having fun with him included. Hopefully before too long that will change a little.

My cousin’s littlest one decided his new name was “Big Guy”. She called him that all day, it was so funny. But after he spent most of his time throwing the kids in the pool and letting them jump off of his shoulders I think he deserved the title.

I think these two were plotting something. Which would be nothing new.

So, what did you do this weekend?
