Here at The Post-It Place we are in full-fall-swing. Gearing up for all the fall festivals, trips to the apple house and preparing for Halloween!! So in preparation for Halloween, what is more fitting that spooks and haunts?

One of our recent adventures was to the 13 Stories Haunted House located in Kennesaw GA, located behind the Town Center Mall. The whole way there I kept telling my family that I hope it was scary, and I was hoping it wasn’t too scary. Yeah, makes a lot of sense…NOT. But that is the way I felt. Anxious and excited we arrived, found our destination and then went to eat. They do not open their doors until dark so we had a little time to spare. As we sat down to eat I couldn’t help but think that eating before hand might not be the best idea.

Once dark hit we headed back to the 13 Stories Haunted House location and I prepared myself for the haunts that awaited. But first, let me tell you a little about the history of 13 Stories. As a young’un Allyn Glover was bored. See, he grew up in a small town much like where I live…with nothing to do. So I can just imagine that one night around the dinner table as he and his sister were complaining about being bored his parents telling them to figure out something to entertain themselves. That is when the idea came about to start a hayride, down a haunted trail. They implemented their idea, made it all come to life and now 28 years later they have one of the best haunted houses around. People come from all over to visit the original site located in Newnan, GA and the newer site in Kennesaw GA. As we were waiting our turn to go in I got to visit with Allyn’s Mom and Sister and several of the staff, talk about a great bunch of folks. One of the things that impressed me the most was how everyone of the staff talked about how they are all a big family, and that they all return year after year after year to work at the Haunted House. And you can tell…they have a LOT of fun!

As you wait for your turn you will see some of their “crowd pleasers” wandering around. They are happy to stop and pose for pictures with you if you are brave enough to ask. I just hope we are all smiling this much when we come out…that is if we survive! And yes, the big Ogre is “alive”. The Zombie, well, he is “dead”. Undead that is.

I can’t spoil how it goes once you enter. I mean really what fun would it be if you knew what awaited at every corner? I can tell you it is worth it! I can tell you that one person in our group pee’d their pants. I can tell you that it wasn’t me but it almost happened to me as well. See, they stuck me up front. My heart got quite the cardio workout. And then when I saw this…

…I wanted to curl up in the corner and suck my thumb and forget where I was at for a moment or two. If you get inside and are not sure you can make it all the way through, they have “chicken doors”. There were 3 times that I would have been happy to use a chicken door. I am so glad that I didn’t and that I made it all the way through. I HIGHLY recommend that you visit 13 Stories Haunted House!! Then you will know at exactly which 3 points I wanted to chicken out.

When you see this guy. Run! He wants to eat your brains. He is quite the gentleman though, he even says please.

And this Imp, he is an Imp! Always up to some mischief and mayhem.

And then the Grim Reaper came to visit me.

I am still wondering if I really made it out alive,

or maybe I just think I am still alive.

I have been hearing about 13 Stories Haunted House for years and I knew it was something that we wanted to do this year and something that I wanted to tell all of you about. It really is a fabulous attraction to visit. We were not disappointed at all. If you are interested in visiting 13 Stories Haunted House you can see the dates, times and even get a coupon by visiting their website. You can follow along by liking their Facebook Fan Page and follow them on Twitter.

Some people have asked me is it really scary? Yes, and I am not sure that this will make sense but it was just scary enough…not too scary and not too little scary. Yeah, told you it wasn’t going to make sense, but it does in my mind, and well, we all know what a scary jumbled place that is. And in full-disclosure I want to say that I contacted 13 Stories Haunted House about us visiting, they welcomed us with open arms. So while we did receive tickets, all of the opinions stated are those of my own and were in no way influenced by anyone or anything.

  4. Sounds like a lot of fun. I would have been the one to pee my pants. When my son and some of his school friends were in their early teens, they created a haunted forest several years at Halloween. Kept them busy and out of trouble. Folks really enjoyed it…and it was pretty scary too.

  5. There are several haunted houses all in the same area in Kansas City, MO. We go for a day trip and visit all of them and then go home and attempt to sleep but it usually doesn’t work out that well!

  6. I have heard about it but have never been, going to have to change that and make a point to go this year!

  7. We are going to have to go check it out.
