Yes, I know. I have been Missing in Action lately. But I have some really good excuses. Seriously.

For the last several weeks I have been down in my back. I have degenerative disc disease and it seems that this time I have done something that seems to be lingering. There is nothing worse than back pain. Going to the chiropractor, ice, advil and anything else that I can do is being done. It does seem to be getting some better but I will be so glad when I get back to par. And if that doesn’t happen soon someone is going to have to pack me up, ship me back to my maker and leave Shipsmart testimonials. Because I am tired of feeling under the weather. Sitting is the worst part of it all and writing posts requires sitting.

Also, Bric lost his job. We keep hearing about how much better the economy is…but we sure aren’t seeing it. As a matter of fact unemployment went UP by 8% here in a month. That isn’t improvement folks! But, we live in one of those small communities that is run by the good ole’ boys and if they are ok then all is ok. I will be more than happy to vote this time around and hope like heck we see some changes.

Then, we were given a HUGE gift that required lots of work on our part.It was worth every minute!! Of course I say WE loosely. Bric and Tate did most of the work along with a few really great friends.

Clear trees

First “we” had to clear some trees.

pull up pavers

Then “we” had to pull up all the pavers we had down that served as a patio.

bobcat

Next, the land had to be completely level. I begged to drive but the man that did the work wasn’t too sure about that. He decided he might better take care of things himself. I was just appalled that he didn’t trust me.

rebar

“We” even learned how to cut rebar.

Sparks sure were flying!

sand

Then came the sand!!

spread the sand

They are a Motley Crew.

install the liner

Next, the liner had to be installed. It took lots of people. And several attempts to get it right.

exhaustion

Exhaustion set in.

fill with water

Fill with water!!

OMG it's cold

OHHHHMyStinkinHeck it’s COLD!!!

Play

Let it sit in the sun a few days…

…and then PLAY!

Yep, we were given an 18′ X 33′ Pool thanks to one of my dearest friends. She felt like we needed a little something to brighten our day…little doesn’t even begin to cover it.

Also, while all of this other had been going on Erin got to come in to visit for a week!!! And while she was here I just couldn’t bring myself to be on the computer much.

So see, We have had a little going on but I am trying to get myself caught up…

we will just have to see if it happens. Till then, I have a float calling my name.

  1. Hope your back feels better soon! I have back pain too–it’s no fun at all! The economy is dropping…such a mess.

I love the pool!! Wish I had one like that. I haven’t been in one since I was a kid. :(

  2. So sorry you have been down in your back. Praying you soon will feel good as new. And praying for Bric’s job situation. Love the new pool. Get on in there and chill out a spell.
    Hugs,
    Susan

  3. Jyl, I’m so sorry you’ve been “stove” up, as we say in these here parts because in these here parts lots of folks are from YOUR parts! Nobody understands the can’t sitting part like me but for different reasons and it’s what took me out of the game for nearly two years. I’m sitting again and writing but I have to do it in little increments. Bless your heart. I’m so sorry for your pain and glad for ANY little relief – may it increase greatly and SOON! How wonderful to have a pool to keep you entertained this summer. Maybe your stalker won’t see it in the dark and will fall in and you can grab him (or SOMEone can). And may Bric find work soon. The economy has sure hit hard here, too. Grizzly has been working the last two months but then things slow down again and we cheer when we can make the house payment and know we have someplace to live for yet another 30 days. Keeps the pray life robust, eh? :) Sending hugs and love your way.
