Katie & Kimble: A Ghost Story is the first book in the Katie & Kimble Series. It’s a chapter book for ages 7 – 10 with a reading level of 3. This 114 page Juvenile Fiction book is funny, engaging and exciting, but not fear-based.
Nine-year-old Katie Russell and her family look like a normal family. But the Russells don’t know they are living with Kimble, the ghost of a 10-year-old girl. That is, until Katie discovers Kimble and the two of them set off on a quest to find out what happened to Kimble’s mother.
Linda Thieman is a former English/Language teacher from Sioux City, Iowa. She’s the author of the Katie & Kimble book series and runs the Katie & Kimble blog (http://www.katieandkimbleblog.com) where she offers a a set of reading skills worksheets and classroom materials that teachers and homeschoolers can download free of charge. The materials correspond to the first two books in the Katie & Kimble series and are guided by the standards set for third grade reading skills in Iowa school systems.
Katie & Kimble: A Ghost Story is such a cute book for young readers. It’s a fun and action-packed story of a young girl named Katie who moves into a new house only to find that it’s occupied by a friendly ghost named Kimble. Throw in Katie’s dog Twinkle and many adventures follow. Add in some suspense and you have a book that will keep children engaged and wanting to know more. It isn’t frightening at all so no worries that your child won’t be able to sleep at night, it is just fun, excitement and a little suspense.
