These are probably my all time favorite! I could eat the whole batch in one sitting. This recipe came from an older lady here in Hick Town that used to write for the local paper. She was all the time printing some of her favorite recipes and you could always count on her to be at any bake sale. One fateful year, I tasted these little devils and have been hooked ever since. I finally convinced her that she had to give me the recipe or I would perish from being deprived.
NO BAKE ORANGE BALLS
1/2 cup butter
1 box vanilla wafers (crushed)
1 box powdered sugar
1 (6oz) can frozen orange juice (thawed)
coconut
Melt the butter and mix well with the powdered sugar. Add the crushed vanilla wafers. Add the thawed orange juice. Mix thoroughly with hand and roll into small balls (about 1 tsp per ball). Then roll the balls in the coconut. Place on a plate, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate.

The Ingredients

Mix it in a large bowl

Don’t do what I did…I got tired of smashing up the crackers and didn’t get them fine enough. Make sure you crush them really fine. It is best to use a food processor, which I didn’t do this time. If the “dough” isn’t firm enough, you may have to chill it before you make them into balls. Then roll them in the coconut.

The finished product, eat and enjoy!
Well, we are half-way through candy week. I hope you are all enjoying going down memory lane with me and taking a journey through some of my favorite things to gift to others. I have about made myself sick from having to sample a few things here and there. A good sugar rush is good for the soul occassionally though.
Do you know what cpm is? Me either. But I bet I could make some good guesses. Culinary Proficiency Measure. Cute Perky Mess. Crazy Pop Male. The list could go on for days…but I will spare you.

This sounds like a great thing to make for all those church functions we go to at Christmas. As much as I LOVE chocolate, it does get to be a bit much at Christmas. Do these orange balls have to be kept refrigerated? I mean, do they get loose and difficult to handle after a sitting out a while?
I would LOVE to combine this idea with my cheesecake balls!
oh wow ! i am drooling now.
Hmmm, I think they could be altered however you like. I mean hey, I do eat the “dough” by itself…it has to be tested ya know. Seriously though, I think it would be great rolled in nuts. I have never tried it, but I might do that with some of the left over mixture that I have sitting in the fridge. If I do that this evening, I will let you know how it turns out.
We have CPM’s where I work — Critical Path Method. It’s used in project scheduling to determine the most important items to be completed for a project. But I’d rather make the candy. Rolled in nuts……….mmmmmmmmmmmmm!
These sound good but Young’un doesn’t like coconut. Could they be rolled in chopped nuts ? Or can you make them without the coconut?
