This recipe is posted especially for Sassy, she has this deep-seeded love of chocolate that just doesn’t go away and asked me if I was going to post a chocolate cake recipe.
CHOCOLATE POUND CAKE
2 sticks butter
1/2 cup shortening
3 cups sugar
3 cups flour, sifted
1/2 cup cocoa
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp baking powder
5 eggs
1 1/4 cups sweet milk
Cream the butter with the sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beating well. Sift together the flour, baking powder and cocoa 3 times. Add milk, and flour mixture alternately. Add vanilla last. Bake in a greased and floured tube pan for 1 hour and 15 minutes at 325 degrees.

It’s funny, my mom only made one kind of pound cake which was a mix of chocolate and vanilla, so I always assumed that was the only kind.
You have spoken to my heart and it thanks you. Now my cholesterol may not like you so much. LOL. Question though, do you have to have a tube pan, can u just use a regular cake pan?
