Last night I made french dips at the request of my mother. They are so easy and so good…you should try them sometime. Here is the recipe:

Left over roast
1cup soy sauce
2 cups water
2 or 3 whole peppercorns
1 bay leaf

Throw it all in a crockpot and let it simmer on low for at least 4 hours. Then I shred some of the meat and put it on a sub-roll/hoagie roll, place some of the juice in a small bowl for dipping the sandwich in. Yummm, Yummm!

You can make these without having any left-over roast. You just have to cook the roast and then add everything else. But, if you cook a roast with potatoes and carrots, etc one day, then have french dips the next you have 2 meals taken care of for that week. Easy and economical.
